CBS has already renewed Ghost Whisperer for a fifth season. So, everything´s good for Ghost Whisperer!
Gotta say it… what a great development league turned out to be Party of Five, right?
Ghost Whisperer is an Emmy Award-nominated American television series created by John Gray. It first premiered on CBS on September 23, 2005. Currently in its fourth season, the show was renewed for a fifth season consisting of 24 episodes, which are expected to begin airing in September. The series follows the life of Melinda Gordon, a young woman from Grandview, New York, who has the ability to see and communicate with the dead. Melinda lives with her husband Jim, and is the owner of an antique shop. Ghosts seek Melinda’s help in relaying a message to the ghost’s loved ones or completing a task that will put the spirit to rest, and allow them to “cross over” into The Light, a metaphor presented by the show as its conception of Heaven.
What is Ghost Whisperer About? – Plot
Ghost Whisperer is based on the work of “Spirit Communicator” James Van Praagh, who is co-executive producer and constantly updates a blog about the show through CBS. The stories are also said to be based in part on the work of “Spirit Communicator” Mary Ann Winkowski. Development of the show dates back to at least two years before its premiere.
The show is currently produced by Sander/Moses Productions in association with CBS Paramount Network Television (originally CBS Productions in season one) and ABC Studios (originally Touchstone Television in the first two seasons).
The show is filmed on the Universal Studios back lot in Hollywood. One area on the lot is Courthouse Square from the Back to the Future trilogy, though it has been drastically modified to portray Grandview. For example, the clock tower present in Back to the Future has been completely covered up. Cast and crew members also believe that the set gets visits from real spirits.
Sound effects are completed at Smart Post Sound. Visual effects for the pilot and some season 1 episodes were completed at Flash Film Works. Visual effects for nearly the entire series have been created at Eden FX.
The hair stylist for the show’s protagonist, Melinda Gordon (played by Jennifer Love Hewitt), was five-time Emmy Award-nominated hair designer Michael Reitz.

Anyone Else Really Missing Jay Mohr (Prof Rick Payne) On This Show!
Really Want Him To Come Back, He Was Only Going On A Year Sabbatical, And When They Season Starts It Will Have Been 6 Years, Due To The 5 Year Time Jump.
But I Am Still Really Excited About The New Season Of GW, And I Bet Its Gonna Be Good.

I would be so very disappointed if they cancelled Ghost Whisperer. It’s one of the very few good shows worth watching on T.V. It was bad enough when they cancelled Moonlight! All these realty shows are a waste of time. Can’t stand them! They are taking over television.

I agree with a couple of things. First, yes, I will also be disappointed when this show eventually gets cut from the lineup (reality is that it will happen eventually), but I am hopeful that it will air for a good few more seasons, at least. And yes, I would also like to see Jay Mohr back on the show. Granted, he has his own thing going on (Gary Unmarried), but I think that his delivery of the quirky science-type guy rounded out the show a bit better than the new guy (you need a little light-heartedness in a prime-time show that deals with some scary stuff, right?).

I was very surprised that I like this show, but only had to watch once to get addicted. It’s perfect, there’s nothing on the air like right now. Soooo over reality everything and crime shows where people get their brains blown out. There’s just too many of those!

I agree… but there also some good sitcoms, like HIMYM and TBBT; also Dexter, House, Californication, Lost, and a long list of neither reality, nor Crime shows.

I totally enjoy and have always looked forward after a hard and sometimes insane week to an enjoyable show. We don’t watch most of the sitcoms that are on TV today. They are mostly “Silly, not even comical, or we are CSI’d to Death, we call that a “Netflix Night”! So we agree with the Network’s decision to keep “Ghost Whisperer” and giving back to the viewer a little bit of what Television used to be. Thanks!

I love Ghost Whisperer. When r-runs kept playing I was very worried that the series was done for. But then I seen it was coming back on the 25th of September I was so excited. I have watched from season 1 episode 1.

It takes a LOT to keep my attention focused on one tv show, but this show has captured my attention the entire time. Since the first episode I watched, I have totally been hooked. Its my new addiction! I LOVE THIS SHOW!! I HOPE IT CONTINUES FOR MANY MORE SEASONS!

i am so very glad that thry are keeping ghost whisper on the air …its a fantastic show special for people that beleive that spirits are stuck here that have unfinished business….and when i work and cant see it ,,,,i also set my dvr to makesure it tapes,,,,so please dont take it off the air

I am sorry for all of you Ghost Whisperer haters. I just started watching the reruns on the WE channel and I am so hooked that I tivo it and watch it religiously. It is filled with drama, intensity, comedy, love and especially … heart. The chemistry with Melinda and Jim is so heart felt that I am actually jealous, I would cry a lot and my husband would make fun of me until I made him watch the it and now he is hooked. I even thought he cried a little!I love it so much and can’t wait for more.

O.k. I personally thing Ghost Whisperer was great until they jumped five years forward and have Melinda and Jim’s creepy kid. I love JLH and think she is so adorable but the kid is weird. Glad they kept Jim and have given Jamie Kennedy more of apart of the story line (yup it’s her BF) but like I said the kid creeps me out. Think they jumped the shark.

This show is incredible. Miss Hewitt is amazing. She is not only lovely to watch she can actually act! It is the only show on TV that I watch.

It’s great to have such a profound show on the airways. The show brings families together, men to tears, and non-believers to believers. There is an afterlife and it is a place for forgiveness and the one gift we all share which is “love.” Please keep the show on the air for along time, there is alot of issues from past shows that need to be resloved as well as getting back to the basics when the show first aired. Bring back professor Payne and I still don’t understand why they killed off Jim and then kept him as a different person, (but as him?) Non the less this show is for families and this show brings families and people together…something this world needs more of. Were all connected and we all deserve are “own personal” freedoms!

I am slow at picking up shows, so I have only recently started watching ghost whisperer and i have been watching a ton of repeats to get caught up….I love this show…I hope that they bring back prof. payne (the original) and do something with the storyline regarding Sam/Jim and Melissa…I loved watching when all that was going on…have him revert back to Sam or something….thanks

5th season…Great news!! I look foward to it every Friday.It’s a very positive spin on death and the here-after… a-la Edgar Cayce. [that episode with Casey Edgars was cute ] The thing that I likeis, that it’s based on” real-live ” experiences of James van Praagh and Mary Ann W. And yes Jay Mohr would be excellant to have back. I just found out that Ghost Whisperer was cancelled, and read on about how it was left on the air! I enjoy Medium also! My husband and grandson love to watch them also! They are good, family shows…something very lacking in so MANY others! We believe in spirits all around us and life after death. NOW, if LESS cleavage was shown on Ghost Whisperer, it would be VERY refreshing! It’s not needed to gain viewers. It’s an uplifting, heartfelt show with lots of love and caring go go around. Great acting, and I do believe bringing back Jay Mohr would be a VERY positive move! Thanks for keeping a couple of the GOOOOOOOOOD shows on the air!!
