Open with the aftermath of Luke’s suicide vamp-bombing. Vampires and humans are scattered everywhere, but Eric used his body to shield Sookie from the blast. Eric convinces Sookie she must suck pieces of silver from his body or he will die. As she drinks from a second wound Eric smiles devilishly.
Bill lets one of Luke’s drivers go to display vampires are capable of showing mercy.
Three vampires and two humans have been killed (though no one we care about). Bill tells Sookie that Eric tricked her into drinking his blood in order to connect the two. Bill tells Sookie it is possible she may now find herself sexually attracted to Eric.
Jessica and Hoyt discuss her regenerating hymen. He couldn’t be happier with her and wants her to meet his mother. He warns her that his mother isn’t keen on vampires.
Once again, Tara and Eggs have no idea what happened to them the night before. Maryann won’t tell them what they did, even suggesting hard drugs. She convinces them nothing is wrong with being out of control every now and then. Given that she has an alcoholic mother, Tara doesn’t like blacking out.
Sam and the rest of the town are still locked up.
Sookie goes to Jason’s room and the two have a hear-to-heart. He was worried nobody liked “me for me,” and blames that insecurity for his getting mixed-up with the church. They realize they are the last members of their family and have to grow up. Jason apologizes and Sookie convinces him he just needs to use his brain a little more often. They turn on the TV to find Steve and Sarah bickering during a debate with AVL rep Nan Flanagan. “A witch and a son of a bitch,” Jason says.
Things are on edge at an understaffed Merlotte’s. Arlene tells Lafayette how scared she is by the two deaths at the restaurant. Arlene and Terry admit that neither remembers whether or not they had sex and both seem happy together. Tara and Eggs walk in and Lafayette is convinced the bruises on his cousin’s face are the result of Eggs hitting her. The two get into it before Eggs and Tara eventually leave.
Hoyt and his mother have it out about his dating a vampire. He calls her out for being a hateful person and she eventually agrees to meet Jessica.
Sookie has a sexually-charged dream about Eric where two are nude in bed. They cuddle and she talks about why she wouldn’t be a good vampire. Lorena pops in and out, telling Sookie she doesn’t really care about Bill.
Maryann arrives at the jail and puts Bud under one of her black-eyed spells. She is primarily interested in Sam, but misses him after he turns himself into a fly and leaves through a vent. She opens the cells and lets the rest of the people out.
The dinner with Hoyt, Jessica and his mother starts pleasantly but turns ugly when she tells Jessica her son deserves better. She points out Jessica can’t give him a baby and Jessica storms off.
Tara, Eggs and Maryann sit around doing shots. Lafayette and Lettie Mae arrive to take Tara away. Maryann tries to tempt Lettie Mae with booze. Lafayette and Eggs start to fight. Lafayette and Lettie Mae are able to grab Tara and flee the place.
Nan shows up in Dallas to rip Godric for the PR disaster he causes. She fires Godric as sherrif. Sookie defends him but it makes no difference.
Maryann storms into Merlotte’s and demands that Sam is brought to her.
We see Sam show up at Andy’s place.
Godric apologizes for the harm he has caused and tells Nan he will “make amends.” Godric tells Eric to “look into my heart” and has him join him on the roof. Sookie tells Bill she must go to Godric to help him.
On the roof Eric tries to convince Godric not to kill himself. Godric says to a sobbing Eric that “2,000 years is long enough” and commands Eric to leave the roof. When Eric has left, Godric tells Sookie he thought being captured by the Fellowship of Sun might “fix everything.” He asks Sookie how God might punish him and says he hopes for forgiveness. Sookie begins to weep as he starts smoking. “A human with me at the end, and human tears? 2,000 years and I can still be surprised. In this I see God.” He faces the rising sun and vanishes quickly.
