In what was a surprising pool of taleted actors getting the nominations (not because of their work in these films, but for their resumeés), there were five actors battling for the award: Steve Carell for Foxcatcher, Bradley Cooper for American Sniper, Benedict Cumberbatch for The Imitation Game, Michael Keaton for Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance) and Eddie Redmayne for The Theory of Everything.
Ever gorgeous Cate Blanchett goes to the stage as the presenter of the award, and we get to see some tidbits of the great performances of the nominees.
And the Oscar for Best Actor in a Leading Role goes to… Eddie Redmayne for The Theory of Everything.
