Sometimes good and bad news come from beyond the pond for our list of renewed shows on 2011 and all the cancelled shows on 2011,and in this case, the overseas news are good, since BBC One has renewed Luther for a third season, even though season two is yet to air in the US. So, while numbers for Luther have been great, there is still to be factored in whatever may come via US airings.
After posting 30% gains in the ratings from season one to season two, and reaching 5.5 million viewers in the UK, it´s been a clear cut decision waiting to get official that Luther was renewed for season three. Who wouldn´t renew that kind of success!
The only problem is that Luther season two consists of only four episodes, and that probably means Luther´s season three is also short, and therefore, the waiting between September 28th (premiere date) to season finale date will be much shorter than the waiting for the following season, slated to air in 2012 in the UK, and second half 2012 in the US. (That´s a whole lotta waiting!)

I hope Luther continues on. I have enjoyed the 1st season on netflix in the US. Can’t wait for the following seasons.

I hope they do not ever cancel Luther, I love this show. I have watch seasons 1 and 2 on netflix. I just hate season 2 was only 4 episodes.

This show actually surprised me, but it grew on me really quick. I stopped after the first season and started taking my time on season two because it’s so short. I really hope they continue the show..it’s great!!!!
Yay! I first heard of Luther when Idris Elba was nominated for an Emmy. Thanks to Netflix, I watched both season 1 & 2 back to back! So great! I hope they don’t cancel it! But I’m also wondering why the season’s are so short? 6 episodes, 4 episodes…..? I luv all the actors especially Ruth Wilson who plays Alice! She’s kool! I just didn’t like she killed her family dog…..never good.
