Discovery Channel renews its hit Gold Rush for a third season. After managing to get for the Third Week in Row Discovery Channel to #1 in All of Television Among Men on Friday, February 10 with Gold Rush, the cable network did what was expected and announce the renewal of Gold Rush. In Discovery Channel’s hit series GOLD RUSH, a group of down-on-their-luck men, in the face of an economic meltdown, risk everything to strike it rich mining for gold in Alaska. Inspired by his father Jack, Todd Hoffman leads the miners – now with one season under their belts – to finish what they started and get to the bottom of the glory hole at Porcupine Creek and find gold.
Second season of the show started back in October and has been a steady hit, well over 4 million viewers and topping all shows on Fridays, including those on the big networks, for the adult 18-49 magic demo of adult.
The show also served as the lead in for Bering Sea Gold, a new bet from the cabler, for whom a renewal announcement should be expected soon, too.
The second season of Gold Rush still has two episodes to air, and probably will be back in the last trimester of 2012.
