We are reviewing all the cancelled shows and renewed shows of the season.
And this is some great news for a big budget production such as Spartacus, since Starz has decided to renew Spartacus for a second season even before premiering the first season, set for January 21st.
This marks a great chance to develop the characters and not to worry creatively to make it too fast.
It´s not common to see this kind of chances on TV nowadays, so kudos to Starz for renewing Spartacus for a second season even before the premiere.
What is Spartacus: Blood and Sand about? Plot
Spartacus: Blood and Sand is an upcoming Starz original TV series that will premiere in January, 2010. The series focuses on Spartacus, a Roman gladiator (played by Andy Whitfield), who later became the leader of a major slave uprising against the Roman Republic. The show has been advertised as featuring some of the most graphic sex scenes ever produced on television. The violence is also very bloody and it is slated for a TV-MA rating.
Are you going to watch Spartacus: Blood and Sand, now knowing that the show has been renewed for a second season even before starting?

Fantastic. The pilot didn’t really impress me either but the show and characters have really grown in the last few episodes. This last episode, Delicate Things, even managed to surprise me a bit. Glad Starz is truly going to give this show a chance to find it’s audience.

I’m glad Starz is allowing this show to develop. The characters are starting to develop…evolving from charactures of gladiators to humans with faults and failings.

Spartacus is by far one of the best shows I’ve ever seen on TV. Amazing storyline.. great acting… characters are so in depth that you feel like you know them (Varro). Great job Starz.. this should have definitely come out sooner!

Very impressive show, if you watched HBO’s Rome you’ll love this one. It’s not very historically accurate, but that’s just fine by me a lot of artistic liberties to make these characters feel real and to keep the plot interesting. Spartacus started off as a Thracian prisoner, slave from a Quarry in real life.. here he’s just shipped straight to the gladiatorial world.
