Sitcoms are having a rough patch on the lists of renewed shows of 2013 and cancelled shows of 2013, as there´s another casualty on the way. Even though not yet officially announced, Fox is cancelling Ben and Kate. In the official announcement it only reads: “BEN AND KATE will return with all-new episodes at a later date” and you know that´s not a good sign. Especially since the show has been struggling in the ratings despite many praises by the critics.
Tuesdays will be filled with Raising Hope´s One Hour Special that will feature a My Name is Earl Reunion, and then with encores from both Raising Hope and New Girl, up until Hell´s Kitchen or American Idol take over the slots.
Is this a larger strategy by Fox to scale down on Sitcoms and laffers? Hopefully not, but it sure seems to raise a few red flags.
Ben and Kate has been so far a breath of fresh air as a new show that follows a pair of odd-couple siblings and their friends as they push each other out of their comfort zones and into real life.
Critics loved it, audiences do not match the thumbs up from critics; sadly. And so, Fox cancels Ben and Kate.
