We are reviewing all the cancelled shows and renewed shows of the season.
This fall season, a lot of shows are falling like crazy. NBC already cancelled Outlaw, ABC Family cancelled Huge, Fox cancelled Lone Star, ABC cancelled My Generation, and also cancelled The Whole Truth, and MTV cancelled The City in its second season.
Some are getting renewed, since HBO renews Eastbound & Down for season three, and also renews Bored to Death for season three.
But in this case, HBO cancels Big Love after its fifth season. Should it count as a cancellation or not?
I´m still not sure. Fortunately the show will have a full closure season, and maybe it will end as planned, same thing as Friends, Lost, Seinfeld and Six Feet Under(to name a few), shows that had their run and planned ahead for the ending.
Mark V. Olsen and Will Scheffer will write the closer as the series’ finale.
As Deadline.com reported, “It has been an honor and pleasure to work with series creators Mark V. Olsen and Will Scheffer on this unique and provocative series, and I’m happy that they will be able to bring the story to its close the way they always envisioned,” HBO’s president of programming Michael Lombardo said. “We look forward with great anticipation to collaborating with Mark and Will on their next venture.” Olsen and Scheffer are working on a new project for the pay cable network, which will be announced shortly.
Many people and Big Love fans were estranged with season four of the show, and therefore I don´t see much surprise in the fact that HBO cancels Big Love, but, the show had three quite solid seasons, even earning some Emmy Awards love.
