In my attempt to keep lists for renewed shows on 2011 and all the cancelled shows on 2011 updated I am moving to the syndication front, and now to see that classic game show Family Feud got renewed through 2015, in a not at all surprising move, since all the networks that carry the show were getting good numbers for it, specially since 2010 when Steve Hrvey joined as host.
Family Feud got renewed for four more years up until 2015, and this long renewal order is probably the result of getting a gain of nearly 35% in the ratings, and almost 40% in the key women demos.
Ira Bernstein, co-president of Debmar-Mercury said in a statement about Family Feud renewal: “Stations have wasted no time in securing this franchise well into the future with these long-term renewals, extending Family Feud through 2015 and making it a viable alternative to off-network sitcoms for many stations seeking strong early fringe and access programming”.
This renewal order for Family Feud through 2015 brings the total run for the show that started in 1976 to 39 years. Not bad for a game show, not bad.
What do you think? Are you happy Debmar Mercury renewed Family Feud until 2015? Let me know in the comments section.
