spartacus-blood-and-sand-cancelled-renewed-starz-second-seasonWe are reviewing all the cancelled shows and renewed shows of 2011. And the year came out in its first week already giving way to a couple renewals. Starz renews Spartacus: Blood and Sand for a second season. In this case, announcement had been made already, but then, after the sad news about Andy Whitfield and his battle with cancer, questions about the fate of the show were raised. The hit show has been a great success for Starz, and the network made a good move by ordering a prequel for the show in order to give Andy Whitfield time to recover and make a decision later. That´s how Spartacus: God of the Arena landed as a miniseries for Starz this season. And just now, Chris Albrecht, President and CEO of Starz Entertainment, at the network’s TCA presentation in Los Angeles announced that Spartacus: Blood and Sand was renewed for a second season, but the main role for the show will need to be recast, since Whitfield´s battle to cancer continues.

Hopefully we´ll get to see good TV in this second season of Spartacus: Blood and Sand and Anfy Whitfield can recover well. Our best wishes go to him!
