Ok, The CW was giving the good news around, and they confirmed the renewals of several shows.
In this case, The CW renewed Supernatural for a sixth season.
So, more Winchester brothers for all…
Even though the show was originally planned for five seasons, the success of Supernatural made it almost a no-brainer to be extended.
Therefore, CW renews Supernatural.
What is Supernatural About? Plot
Supernatural is an American drama/horror television series starring Jared Padalecki as Sam Winchester and Jensen Ackles as Dean Winchester, brothers who hunt demons and other figures of the paranormal.
Before bringing Supernatural to television, creator Eric Kripke had been developing the series for nearly ten years, having been fascinated with urban legends since he was a child. Although he had envisioned Supernatural as a movie, he spent years unsuccessfully pitching it as a series. The concept went through several phases before becoming the eventual product, shifting from the original idea of an anthology series to one of tabloid reporters driving around the country in a van “fighting the demons in search of the truth”. Kripke wanted it to be a road trip series, feeling that it was the “best vehicle to tell these stories because it’s pure, stripped down and uniquely American… These stories exist in these small towns all across the country, and it just makes so much sense to drive in and out of these stories.” Because he had previously written for the WB series Tarzan, Kripke was offered the chance to pitch show ideas to the network, and used the opportunity for Supernatural. However, the network disliked his tabloid reporter idea, so Kripke successfully pitched his last-minute idea of the characters being brothers. He decided to have the brothers be from Lawrence, Kansas, due to its closeness to Stull Cemetery, a location famous for its urban legends.
When it came time to name the two lead characters, Kripke decided on “Sal” and “Dean” as an homage to Jack Kerouac’s road-trip novel On the Road. However, he felt that “Sal” was inappropriate for the main character, and changed the name to “Sam”. It was originally intended for the brothers’ last name to be “Harrison” as a nod to actor Harrison Ford, as Kripke wanted Dean to have the “devil-may-care swagger of Han Solo”. However, there was a Sam Harrison living in Kansas, so the name had to be changed for legal reasons. Combining his interest in the Winchester Mystery House and his desire to give the series the feel of “a modern-day Western”, Kripke settled on the surname of “Winchester”. However, this also presented a problem. The first name of Sam and Dean’s father was originally “Jack”, and there was a Jack Winchester residing in Kansas, so Kripke was forced to change the character’s name to “John”.

I’m really nervous about SUPERNATURAL being renewed. The creator had a storyline planned for 5 seasons only. I fear that, combined with creator Eric Kripke leaving the series as well, means this show is going to change quite a bit. I think it is always better for a series to leave on top. Look at Seinfeld and Friends. People were just starting to get “over” them when they decided to call it quits, so they left at the right time. ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT continues to gain more and more fans because it was perfect at 3 seasons. Firefly may not have done well with two seasons, but it was a perfect one season! My point is that Supernatural got better and better for 5 seasons, and seems to be peaking right now.
House is only good for Hugh Laurie but the storylines are getting pretty lame. Grey’s Anatomy should have ended 2 seasons ago, How I met your mother needs to go now, Big Bang Theory has 1, maybe 2 more seasons left, X-files overstayed its welcome, Prison Break was perfect length, and 24 should have stopped last season. Lost thank god, is done this season..good length.
im glad they renewed… its my favorite show. i hope they have a few more years left in them.
I am very happy about the show continuing on to see a sixth season. Not since Buffy, Angel and Charmed have I seen a show about the supernatural worth watching. I remember when the show first came out I was really angry with Charmed being canceled and was not excited seeing two guys, with no special powers mind you, fighting off demons, ghosts etc….so you can imagine my surprise when I decided to watch the show and like all you fans out there I became a huge fan myself. I was impressed with the writing and fell instantly in love with the characters (especially Dean and his love for rock music and the 1967 Chevy Impala) I think that a lot more can be done with these characters and that the show still has untapped potential. I know nothing about the show’s origin but I can say that I see great things in the future for the series itself. Kudos to Sam & Dean!!
I was just watching the an episode of supernatural when I heard the announcer say…the final three episodes. I immediately searched on-line to see if the show was indeed being canceled. I am so happy to hear that it has been picked up another season and will mourn the day that it will truly come to an end.
This show and its characters go beyond simple ghost chasing. They deal with the same issues we do each day….family, sorrow, fear and hope. It is well written and anyone can relate whether horror or sci fi holds their interest or not. And it does not hurt that they guys are adorable.
I am exstatic that they are bringing back Supernatural this is a great show with a lot of thought.

I love it when they chase individual baddies and respect the way they’ve let the characters evolve, but I’m WAY over all this religious conspiracy stuff. I hope they go back to stand-alone eps with a bit of humor. The writers are great at brotherly bickering and target-demographic smart assery. I miss that and the plot’s gotten too predictable. The lack of resolution is just getting frustrating. We know that eventually the Fabulous Winchesters will overcome the heavenly bad guys – how about getting on with it?
omg!!! i can’t believe it! my husband and i just started watching. we were channel surfin one night around christmas and stopped on a show that was set in the 50 or 60s style kitchen. they had a laugh track and there was hot dean standing in the kitchen talking about having to unhindge his jaws to eat the sandwhich. it looked funny as hell, so i taped the rest of it. then i watched it. i was hooked after only a half of episode. so i went on tnt and and started to record the olders ones. we’ve watched seasons one threw three and omg! when i heard this was the last season i was so upset!!!!
so to those who write and produce this show, continue my friends continue! its a combo of charmed, buffy, and angel! all of which are finished on tv!!!! We need more shows like this one! GO Dean, kill ’em all Sammy! We love you!!!!!!
I am so glade that this show supernatural is comeing back i know that this is going to make my boyfrend happy because he really likes this show he was a mess when i told him that the show was ending now i have some goood news to tell him . I just started watching the show myself so now am going online to see the pass shows so that i can catch up.

I have been a fan from the begining .. never missed an episode. I loved the season finale but cried my eyes out. I am very happy that there will be a 6th season. I don’t know what I would watch if the show wasnt on tv anymore. I was a die hard buffy fan and when that went off the air I wanted to die !!!!! then supernatural came and it’s I believe even better than Buffy. I think that the actors on the show are amazing, they truly are brothers. I even named one of my cats Winchester, I will be a fan forever !!!!!
I’m so excited to hear Supernatural is coming back next season! It’s my favorite show. I’ve watched every episode from the start. I think it’s a great storyline.

Fantastic show, great actors, super humor, just enough drama… storyline is amazing, addictive and always enticing. Obviously there are a few “fillers” in the series, but overall, this has been a show that has kept me looking at the calendar almost every day waiting for the next show.
Coolest show since “Buffy.” I’m happy there’s something worth watching again. :0)

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Supernatural! I heard it might be cancelled and I stated searching to see if that was true! Thank goodness it was not. It’s my favorite show! I even got my husband and my sister watching it now. They are the hottest guys on tv by far! I love Sam and Dean! I just wish they could go back to hunting evil like the first 3 seasons before they had to fight angels and demons! Go back to the old stuff. But still my favorite show since Buffy! So excited about season six!
This show is my favorite. I was never a fan of CW but this show has really shown us that the network
can put together a great show. Hopefully there will be more than one more season but At least we can look forward to one more season of SN. Love this show. Good Job bringing Cass and Bobby back. Now they just need to figure out how to get Sam back and make him and Dean a team again. There REALLY needs to be a movie. Hopefully they can make it happen to help us fans have some Closure in the end.
God, I´m soooooooo glad that they got renewed, I really don´t care if the next is the last season or so, but I couln´t have lived whit the question if Sam is back or if it´s Lucifer, and why the hell was he or it watching Dean?. The only think that I hope is that when the end come it let the two bothers together. In heaven or hell but together. Dean live for Sam, and it will not change just because he promised…

Thank goodness i so happy that they are keeping my fav show on for one more season SUPER NATRUAL this shoe is a eyes glue to the tv type of shoe and when it over u ant wait to see it next week .

yipeeee! bring it on…Season 6 and more! Am in Kenya,which means I only get to watch it on DVD, am currently in sn 4 and am taking it slowly so that it doesn’t end. hope Castiel is still there in sn 6, he’s actually managed to divert my attention from Dean. you’re a doll to Sammy:-)
YES !!! I have been watching since the beginning in 2004 and I finally got my husband interested in 2007. Now we watch it together “ALL EYES” on the T.V. We do not even answer the phone until commercials… Can’t wait for this new season to find out about Sam/Lucifer??? Does Dean do the Apple Pie/Family thing? And is Castiel back to help ??? The anticipation is killing me…. Love this Series Keep Up The Good Work, CW….
im so happy they are making a season 6 because i been watching the show ever sence it came on the air and i hope it continues for 5 more seasons as long as they keep coming up with great ideas like they have been but i do wish they could go back on just regular hunts instead of it always being heaven vs. hell all the time but its still the best show ever and i love the characters who play in it and i do wish john winchester could come back to stay because they make such a good team.

I am sooooooooooo incredibly happy they renewed it! that is my favorite show and it just gets better! i have loved the heaven vs hell plot but i also loved when they were just doing normal hunts. i hope they do more of those as well as finish up what happened with sam at the end of the last season! i knew he wouldnt be dead!!! cant wait to find out whats next! when does it start??!
i am so glad they are back! it looks like they are trying to set it up that sam goes on without dean, i am not real sure what they are setting us up for but i am so glad they are back!! i hope they dont have sam go on without dean. i hope bobby and castiel are going to be in this sesean as well, they help make the show to. the show would not be worth watching without either sam or dean, it has to be both of them!! lol
I am SOOOOOOOOOOO glad they renewed Supernatural! I got into Supernatural in July and caught up on all 5 seasons in like 3 weeks (pathetic I know lol!). I fell in love with the show and realized it was no longer on air (thats just what I thought). After I watched most of the first and second seasons I went on google to look something up about the show (I don’t remember what it was though). When I searched it I saw the link Supernatural renewed for a 6th season. I got SO happy! It was such a relief to find out that I would be able to see my favorite brothers on my favorite show again! To know that after I finish all of the seasons there would be more for me to watch! When I started reading comments about it and the worries of fans that it wouldnt be as good I started to worry. But then I saw the first episode of Season 6 and realized I was being stupid! It was amazing! Lol! Supernatural is an AMAZING show and I’m so glad it was brought back! I hope it is able to have a few more seasons to! And as you can tell I’m a totallll Dean girl! I love Sam to but not as much! =] <333
sooooo glad supernatural’s back on TV.,best show since buffy, never missed an episode. it’s the only show i really look forward to seeing everyday of the week. from watching old re-runs on tnt, to watching the newer episodes that come on fridays @9p. i count the days til i can see another supernatural, so they better not cancel this show. I’m soooo sick of twilight based television series, and reality shows. supernatural is the only hardcore sci-fi/horror series on the cw that still kicks ass from the moment it first aired til today. jared and jensen doing a bang up job as well as the other cast, i can’t wait to see where the characters are going go from here….
I think that Supernatural is good enough that it can continue for several more seasons. The fact that it has held its own on Friday nights says a lot for it.

I love supernatural. This show is my life. It always makes me happy to watch it. The guys also make my day because their my favorite actors. I just recently bought a whole magazine about supernatural and today im getting 2 books from the library based on the show. im so pumped! 🙂

I love the show especially Dean and when I herd the show was cancled my hart skipped a beat I am so happy that the show was renewed I love the jokes dean tells even if it’s not even close to the right time (other guy: I shot the sherif dean: but you didnt shoot the deputy (pan to Sam with an expression of he just killed the guy so no 2 seconds was not long enough to wait befor telling a joke)) and you just got to love the car I hope that sam and dean have a few more adventures and keep brining the pain to the demands LOVE this show SUPERNATURAL kick ass
I just have to say one thing Jensin (Dean) and Jared (Sam) are HOT and the show is awsom SUPERNATURAL kicks ass
