Everybody knows it is a good decision by CBS; making the biggest show on Broadcast to come back year after year, so we all knew The Big Bang Theory was getting renewed. So what´s the news here besides the confirmation of what was expected? Well, it turns out that CBS is renewing The Big Bang Theory for three more seasons and giving that greenlight at the same time, making it the first time in recent memory (and that goes at least twenty years) that a broadcast series has been renewed for three seasons at once.
Nina Tassler, Chairman, CBS Entertainment, announced it by saying “Comedy is a big part of our schedule, and The Big Bang Theory is the biggest comedy force on television”… “We’re proud to work with and showcase the incredible talents of Chuck Lorre, Steve Molaro and this amazing cast every week.”
This three year renewal makes the show go until at least season ten in 2017.
Already Mayim Bialik and Melissa Rauch have extended their contracts, but original castmembers Jim Parsons, Johnny Galecki, Kaley Cuoco, Kunnal Nayar and Simon Helberg contracts are up at seasons´end, and new negotiations will kick in quite soon. The million dollar per episode mark that Friends stars got in their last contract is probably where they will end up. A hefty raise from their 350,000 dollars they are getting this year. Not bad, huh?
