the-americans-cancelled-renewed-season-two-fxThe Americans is getting renewed for a second season by FX, only four weeks into the freshman run of the show that features Matthew Rhys and Keri Russell  in the role of two sleeper KGB spies posing as Americans in suburban Washington D.C. in the early Eighties.

Now, Keri Russell´s show is getting a callback and that´s good news; and also we couldn´t think another outcome for this show, as it debuted strong to 3.22 million viewers, topping what happened to bonafide hits such as American Horror Story. Second season renewal order for The Americans is for thirteen episodes set to premiere late this year to early next year.

Official statement from FX president John Landgraf said “The Americans has quickly established itself as a key part FX’s acclaimed drama line-up”.

The Americans is a 1980s Cold War drama about a group of Soviet KGB officers who have been trained to impersonate American citizens, so that each one can become a sleeper agent, with a cover which may even include an unwitting spouse and family. Starring Keri Russell and Matthew Rhys as the KGB agents posing as Elizabeth and Phillip Jennings, and Maximiliano Hernández and Noah Emmerich as FBI agents.
