pivot_header_PleaseLikeMe_0As we are in the middle of the TCA, a lot of news in the renewal and cancellation front are flying around. This one is about good news: Pivot renews Please Like Me for season two that will premiere in August 2014.

“Please Like Me,” created by Josh Thomas, returns for a second season with ten original half-hour episodes in August 2014. As previously announced at TCA last summer, the network ordered a sophomore season of its first original scripted series just days before the network’s launch and series premiere on August 1, 2013. Production of season two is scheduled to begin in Australia in February 2014. Season two of the series is being co-produced by Pivot and Pigeon Fancier Productions/John & Josh International, in association with the Australian Broadcasting Corporation’s upstart digital channel ABC1.

The coming-of-age comedy has received critical acclaim in the U.S. and Australia and named one of the “Best TV Shows of 2013” by publications including Entertainment Weekly, The New Yorker, Time Magazine, the Los Angeles Times, and The Atlantic. ]The series is inspired in part by actual painfully awkward events in the life of 25-year-old Australian comedian Josh Thomas who created, wrote and executive produced the charming, laugh-out-loud series.

“We are so proud to be working with Josh and the incredibly talented team behind ‘Please Like Me’ and can’t wait to get started shooting the second season,” said Pivot Executive SVP, Scripted Programming Holly Hines. “His voice and experiences represent this generation like few others right now and we were thrilled to see how others fell in love with the first season just as much as we did.”

“Hello America. The idea that many of you take time out to watch “Please Like Me” when you live in a country where you can eat a toasted macaroni & cheese sandwich from a food truck, warms my heart. I’m super excited about season two,” said Thomas. I love that Pivot has the unique ‘doing good things that will make the world nicer’ at its core. Both Pivot and the Australian Broadcasting Corporation are dream networks for us to be working with.”
