trip-flip-travel-channelTravel Channel is bringing a lot of new shows, and it all starts with this one, Trip Flip, premiering this Thursday.

Professional Fun-Seeker and Travel Expert Bert Kreischer Transforms
Ordinary Vacations into Extraordinary Adventures. One-Hour Season Opener to Feature Two Back-to-Back Episodes Highlighting Unforgettable Excursions in New Orleans and Hawaii. Trip Flip premieres Thursday June 28 on Travel Channel.

Have you ever dreamed of someone whisking you off to an exotic locale at a moment’s notice? Or have a friend “in the know” turn an otherwise average trip into an unforgettable experience? In “Trip Flip,” Travel Channel’s new original 13-episode series, professional fun-seeker and travel expert Bert Kreischer turns the tables on would-be vacationers and offers them a fantasy vacation of a lifetime – and all they have to do is say “yes” and enjoy the adventure. Premiering with back-to-back episodes on Thursday, June 28, 2012 at 9:00 p.m. & 9:30 p.m. ET/PT, each weekly half-hour show features Kreischer as he surprises two people with the most unbelievable trip beyond their imaginations! He convinces passersby to seize an opportunity of a lifetime and add a large dose of spontaneity into their lives. Kreischer becomes the ultimate tour guide and offers up an all-expense-paid three-day vacation not written in the guidebooks to unsuspecting travelers.

“This is a series that is sure to inspire folks to travel and try new things out of their comfort zone. In ‘Trip Flip,’ we’re taking travelers who may already be on vacation as well as people still in their hometown, but dreaming of going on vacation, and offer them an adventure that they would normally be too timid to try on their own. Bert delivers the ultimate vacation fantasy offering experiences with exciting twists in each location,” said Andy Singer, General Manager, Travel Channel.

“When I’m scouting for trips to ‘flip,’ we go to locations where we are most likely to find unsuspecting travelers – from malls, stores, chain restaurants and the most popular tourist destinations. All I’m looking for is for the two brave souls who are ready to raise their hands and take a risk,” Kreischer added. “Once they agree to let me take over, I give them a once-in-a-lifetime travel experience. I’ll show them some things they will never even have considered…until now. On one trip, we were kissing alligators before lunchtime! I don’t think anyone ever plans on kissing an alligator.”

In the first half-hour episode of the season opener (airing at 9:00 p.m., ET/PT), Kreischer heads to New Orleans and straight to Bourbon Street to find a trip worth flipping. After several rejections, he meets a New York couple that has never been to the “Big Easy” and is ready for an adventure. Over the next three days, Kreischer takes control of their plans, moves them into a private guesthouse and shows them the best NOLA has to offer. Instead of taking just a regular airboat ride through the swamp, they’ll touch, hold and kiss alligators; instead of looking at Mardi Gras floats, they’ll help build one; and instead of just eating beignets from New Orleans’ famous Café Du Monde, they’ll make them in the renowned kitchen. This couple’s unforgettable vacation continues as Kreischer takes them to authentic Cajun feasts in the 7th Ward, on an above ground cemetery tour and a seaplane ride over the bayou.

In the second episode of the season premiere (airing at 9:30 p.m. ET/PT), Kreischer travels to the island of Oahu, Hawaii where he finds a pair of best friends from Los Angeles, Calif. who are ready and willing to let Bert take the reins. Promising a true Hawaiian adventure, Bert invites the two women on an unforgettable trip around the island. First stop: sharks. While most tourists head into an aquarium to see these creatures, Bert is upping the ante and taking them swimming with sharks inside Hawaii’s largest shark cage. Next, the group heads back to land to not just watch a game of polo, but also actually play it…atop President Obama’s horse! After checking out the exclusive industry-only fish auction, Bert introduces the girls to surfing – in a traditional outrigger canoe once reserved only for royalty. After racing and riding waves, they’ll paddle board their way to the next stop. While most tourists enjoy Hawaiian Mai Tai cocktails beachside, the pair will learn how to mix their own on the grounds of a private celebrity hideaway. Every vacation must come to an end, but not before Bert treats the pair to a traditional Hawaiian show where they are the firewalking stars – braving four-foot-tall flames.

Upcoming destinations include Cabo San Lucas, Mexico; Cancun, Mexico; Edinburgh, Scotland; Florence, Italy; Las Vegas; Maui, Hawaii; Nashville, Tenn.; New York City; Rome; San Diego; and San Francisco.
