This film is scary, and to think that it is actually based upon a true story is scari-er. But you know what´s not scary? Winning the Blu-Ray edition on a giveaway and watching it at home with your buddies. That´s actually fun! And that´s precisely what you can do now, since the film is coming to Blu-Ray and DVD tomorrow, October 22nd. And, as usual with good launches like this one. I am holding a contest to win it.
Based on a true story, the movie tells the horrifying account of how famed paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren were summoned to help a family terrorized by a dark presence in a secluded farmhouse which they recently bought. In fighting this powerful demonic being, the Warrens find themselves in the middle of the most terrifying case of their lives!
This prize is provided by the movie, but it is not a sponsor, administrator, or involved in any other way with this giveaway. Contest open to US and Canada residents.
The contest starts when this article goes live and lasts until November 12st 12 PM PT.

The Conjuring 5 Things to know… INTERACTIVE GIFS!
1) The Conjuring is directed by the acclaimed James Wan, the Australian-born director of the fright-fests Insidious and the Saw series. His Twitter handle is @CreepyPuppet. Say no more.
2) The Conjuring has been given an “R” rating by the MPAA. Not because of blood, gore, or violence, but simply because it’s just so scary from start to finish!
3) The Conjuring’s cast and crew experienced creepy events during filming. Scratches appeared out of nowhere on Vera Farmiga’s computer soon after she agreed to act in the movie, the crew were routinely woken by something in the “witching hour” between 3 and 4AM, and the real-life Carolyn Perron fell and broke her hip while visiting the set.
4) The Rhode Island farmhouse where The Conjuring is set once belonged to an accused witch, Bathsheba, who tried to sacrifice her children to the devil and killed herself in 1863.
5) Hold your applause! The Conjuring will make you terrified to clap! Whether it’s playing a traditional game of hide-and-seek by following the clapping sounds like the mother and daughter in the movie, or being terrorized by ghostly claps in different rooms of the haunted farmhouse, these claps throughout the movie will give you the creeps!

12 years ago, while on the job (at the time, I was a grounds keeper for an apartment complex). It was around 11:50 am, a nice clear day…I was pushing my supply cart back to the work shop and enroute, about thirty/thirty five feet in front of me, I had noticed an odd looking person (or so I thought, at that moment) that appeared to have moved really quickly across the ground, between the apartment complex carport areas, it was coming from the one carport area, going across to the back end of the apartment building…it looked as though it was sliding across the ground, not walking) SCARY!! It was all black and it looked as if it had a hood over it’s head. It looked really strange to say the least, the figure was like that of a human, but I couldn’t see any facial features, or it’s arms or skin, etc. The best way to describe what I saw was a black shadowy being, a three dimentional silhouette. It did however, have two legs…but I didn’t see its feet…maybe that explains why it was sliding along the ground and not walking! I quickly ran up to where it had passed. It had vanished and nothing was there. This all happened really quick…then it was gone! The carports were empty, there were no cars in the carports…everyone was gone. I believe my encounter was that of a shadow being, and I will never forget this scary paranormal experience!

I saw a ghost at my grandmothers house.
My scariest paranormal experiences have all been viewed in movies. What was that one with Harrison Ford and Michele Pfeiffer–it involved a little girl and a bathtub? Scared the heck out of me. Other than that, any experience I can think of is more spiritual than paranormal and was reassuring rather than frightening.

Any worthwhile theatre has its ghost stories. My college theatre had many, but the man in a tuxedo and cape was the one that I found most interesting. His story is entwined with a dancer. Some people have seen her ghost dancing across the stage, and they will see him off-stage watching her. However, there is also a small, dark tunnel that leads from the backstage to our costuming department in another building. Many people swear to have seen or felt his presence in this tunnel. Even before I heard the tales, this tunnel has always given me the creeps.
One night I was working late with my costume design instructor, well after everyone else has gone home. She is this tough, no-nonsense broad. That night we were working late, and I just got a bad feeling. Unexpectedly the hair on the back of my neck went up, and I felt this chill. I had my back to the tunnel entrance, my instructor is facing the tunnel, and I hear my instructor ask, “What do you need?” There is no response, so she then says, “You shouldn’t be here.” I turn around and just see the edge of a cape disappearing down the tunnel. My instructor says she doesn’t like to encourage the ghost stories, but she says she has seen him several times in that tunnel…

When I was about 10 my sister, her best friend, and my younger brother had a séance in the backyard. We had a candle and something that belonged to my sister’s friend’s grandmother. We had no idea what we were doing but we spoke spooky words and asked for some sign that her grandmother could hear us. It was just about dusk and as we looked to the sky I saw a black film/fog/cloudy shape float over us. Some of the others said they saw it too but I know I saw it. It was creepy for a 10 year old.
