Charlie Sheen is back on TV in no time! Anger Management, his new sitcom based on the Adam Sandler / Jack Nicholson flick will air on FX, after a series of negotiations.
Charlie Sheen will be the star of the show, and Bruce Helford will be at the helm as writer and showrunner. Let´s recall Helford was The Drew Carey Show creator.
Lionsgate TV produces Anger Management and Debmar-Mercury will distribute the show that I´m betting will get international distribution in no time.
Let´s recall the show is about a mild mannered man who is ordered by a judge to attend a group of anger management sessions led by a bizarre therapist. Charlie Sheen will play the therapist, Nicholson´s character, and not Sandler´s as many speculated.
The first series order for Anger Management with Charlie Sheen by FX is of a ten episode first season, with a ratings tied decision to bring it back for a lot more episodes after that. (It´s been talked about a 10-90, ala Tyler Perry´s House of Payne, but the lenght of the second order is not yet set).
It is a big bet for Debmar Mercury and Lionsgate TV since there´s a lot of controversy around Charlie Sheen following Two and a Half Men departure, but let´s not forget Charlie Sheen did all of the eight prior seasons of “Men” without fault.
What do you think? Are you happy Charlie Sheen is back on a sitcom? Will you watch Anger Management with Charlie Sheen? I know I´ll give it a fair try; after all the guy has some serious comedic chops.
