We are reviewing all the cancelled shows and renewed shows of the season.
And in this case, bad news for all those Jimmy Smitts fans out there, since NBC cancels Outlaw. Good thing is it won´t happen right away.
The show will still air the four remaining episodes already filmed. But they would move Outlaw from Fridays to Saturdays 8 PM.
Dateline will expand from one hour to a two hour show to cover up for the loss of Outlaw, cancelled by NBC.
NBC cancellation of Outlaw should not come as a shocker, since the show was getting low numbers even for Friday Night shows. Friday’s “Outlaw” drew 4.1 million viewers and slipped to a 0.9 adult demo rating in the last nationals ratings updates.
What was Outlaw about? Plot
Outlaw is an American television series produced by Conaco Productions for the NBC network. The one-hour courtroom drama stars Jimmy Smits as a Supreme Court Justice who resigns from the bench to start his own law firm, as a way to more directly promote the ends of justice. The series premiered on Wednesday, September 15, 2010, and began airing on Fridays beginning September 17.
Are you sad NBC cancelled Outlaw? Let me know in the comments section.
Also, remember to follow me on Twitter for more cancelled and renewed shows news like this one about Outlaw cancellation.
I’m sooo sad Outlaw is cancelled, I was sitting here waiting for it to come on!
This sucks! It was a freaking awesome show! I wonder why nobody watched it?
It had potential… Sure, the courtroom scenes may have seem, well, unrealistic, but the cases themselves were very creative and… brilliant–more or less.
I have been watching Outlaw on demand thru cablevision because I am usually not near a tv on Friday evenings. I do enjoy the program and wish NBC would consider renewing the show beyond the 4 remaining episodes. I hope that the Saturday evening shows will boost the show’s ratings.
we liked the showmy wife is a long time fan of jimmy smits it did not help to put it on the same time as tom sellick also it was so late make it at 8
Why in the world would you cancel a great series like Outlaw already. A person can only watch so many new show on Premier week. Give Jimmy a chance please, I watched Blue Bloods the first week but didn’t care for it so then watched Outlaw. To cancel a new show after 3 weeks is crazy. So now we get Dateline AGAIN!!!!
I hope someone reads this. OUTLAW is awsome. There should ne a worldwide cry to keep it. 4 million viewers is not enough of an audience and DATELINE is subing in its place.
Geeeeez whe do viewers get to pick.Is everything always about money and advertisements.
write letters to conaco to keep OUTLAW.
I am shocked outlaw got canceled!!!It was one of the best new shows on tv. It is very scary to think that the only shows that seem to last are the moromic “reality shows”. What’s happening to America?
who rates the show? everyone i know waqtches this show and now i heard its being cancelled. NBC needs to revaluate this decision! it was a good show.
[…] this season, new shows are falling like crazy. NBC already cancelled Outlaw, ABC Family cancelled Huge, Fox cancelled Lone Star, ABC cancelled My Generation, and now ABC´s […]
I can’t believe you are cancelling “Outlaw”. One of the best compelling courtroom dramas. I hope another station picks up this entertaining, well written show and the actors are all easy on the eyes too.
NBC finally makes a show to compete with CBS and they cancel it. What is that all about? I guess Outlaw had too many hot topics going for itself. Come on NBC, RECONSIDER! Or some other station might pick it up like they did MEDIUM.
I can’t beleive that NBC finally had a good show to compete with CBS and they cancelled it. Too many hot topics for them to handle. Come on NBC and reconsider or CBS might pick it up like they did MEDIUM.
It was one of the best shows ever, bring it back, but put it on Wednesday night at 9PM Central Standard Time.
I was wondering how long congress would let his show go on. I told all my friends as well as colleges they would pull the plug. They don’t want the cover-ups, kickbacks etc.. being exposed. After all, like Mark Twain said “We have the best government money can buy”. I guess we can say the same for NBC executives. Take your kickback, payoffs etc… and shut down a show that focused on just that type of corruption. I do hope a network that has values will pick it up. I for one am a big fan!
IT IS A SAD DAY WHEN THEY CANCEL A GOOD WRITTEN AND ACTED SHOW SUCH AT OUTLAW
This is typical of networks anymore really, at least in the US. They don’t give shows any time to develop anymore so it seems the most heavily advertised shows that draw in viewers early on get to stick around. Blue Bloods is the perfect example I think, as it started out strong with a lot of buzz, but has gotten formulaic, predictable, and downright laughable at times (the most recent new designer drug “m-cat” episode comes to mind). Outlaw on the otherhand has continued to tackle current, dialog-worthy topics, but because it didn’t get the numbers in the first couple of weeks, it’s gone, and you can’t expect new viewers to start watching a show they already know is cancelled. Personally I would love to see a premium network like HBO or Showtime pick up Outlaw and really push the envelope with it.
Too bad Outlaw was cancelled. It is smartly written and I could see this plot line going somewhere. I would hope that NBC would think about sending this to USA network or something like that where it could gain traction…. Think about it. This is a USA type show.
Shocked and so sad that Outlaw is off the air. It is disapointing that a show like Outsourced is running and a show with strong characters andsubstance is gone. By the way it went from Wednesdays to Fridays and then I caught it on Saturday because I had to search for it. NBC was not great about advertising the new show.
Outlaw is a great show and will be greatly missed. I do hope NBC considers giving it a second chance and letting it run. At least as a Saturday show……… any time is fine as long as outlaw stays. Its just so shocking that such a good show as Outlaw is being pulled and so many boring show’s is kept. Its been a while since I’ve been interested in a show. I have a different show set to be recorded on my D.V.R almost every night and my shows are,ABC Castle on monday nights, CBS NCIS and NCIS LA, USA’s White Collar for Tuesday nights, USA Psych, ABC’s modern family, the Middle,Cougar town, better with you on Wednesday nights, NBC 30 rock, USA’s Burn Notice for thursday nights, outlaw was on my Friday nights, now its on my saturday nights and thats fine, My Sundays nights is , Family guy and simpsons. There’s much more show that I look but my favorite ones is a short list and Outlaw’s at the top. Its so sad to see it go.
I have been franctically looking for this show for 2 weeks so I decided to do some research and to my horror the show has been cancelled. I thorougly enjoyed watching this show. How do you cancel a show before it is given a chance. If I had of known the show was moved to friday instead of Wednesdays maybe me tuning in would have made a difference. But since I don’t watch NBC regularly that’s probably why I didn’t know. Not a good decision to cancel this show cause you could’ve have some new viewers. Cause everyone I know was buzzing about this show. I hope you reconsider this show and give it a second chance.
I can’t believe Outlaw is being cancelled. Jimmy Smits is so fantastic, as well as the other cast members. NBC leaves horrible, idiotic shows on but lets the good ones get away. Bad decision
Exactly why I don’t watch NBC—-CBS & ABC always delivers!
It’s too bad the show is cancelled. I really enjoyed it.
I am totally upset about the cancelling of Outlaw. I was just really getting into it. It seems like a lot of the shows I really like, they end up cancelling. Sometimes I know they don’t get a good time for airing, so they just need to change the day.
Typical NBC. This was a good show. I was not a die-hard fan … yet. But that’s because they didn’t give the show a chance. It was cancelled immediately. Don’t they realize they need to give good shows a chance to become popular through word of mouth?
I’m at the point now where I don’t even like to watch shows until about the 5th episode because I don’t want to become vested in them untilm I’m sure they won’t be immediately canceled.
I swear if a network ever went on record as commiting to a minimum of 2 seasons on air I would watch THAT show and really give it a try. I like it when they invest a little bit of themselves in the shows and make a good faith effort. For example, when “Fringe” began on Fox they aired the first episode completely commercial free. The next few episode were either commercial free or extremely “limited commercial interuption”. Their faith in the show made me want to give it a try. And I love the show and watch it every week.
This was a good show.
