2011: The Year in TV

This post was written by a guest author:

While 2011 brought us history-making news from around the world, it also brought us some truly spectacular television shows! From quirky relationship-based comedies to supernatural stories featuring some gorgeous vampires, 2011 had some wonderfully stand-out offerings, and you’ll find that Directv is a good way to get the shows you want.

How I Met Your Mother walks a fine line between over-the-top drama and side-splitting hilarity, and this show, now going on 5 years, seems no closer to letting us in on the answer posed in the title. The relationships are growing and changing, and its still anyone’s game.

For the James Bond fan in all of us, there was the animated show Archer, which takes on Cold War espionage and the rules of Mad Men with hilarious results. With co-workers that range from the mildly-deranged to the completely insane, Archer deals with issues as varied as sleeper agents and breast cancer. Whether you’re there for the snarky one-liners, the ridiculous antics of the semi-sociopathic main character, or the rare serious moment, Archer had plenty to offer.

In the fictional town of Bon Temps, humans and vampires live side by side in an uneasy peace. The television series True Blood is based on The Southern Vampire Mysteries, by Charlene Harris. After ending its fourth season on a series of cliffhangers, HBO has announced that the show will continue in 2012.

On the dramatic of end things, 2011 saw the emergence of Homeland as a perfectly-acted, perfectly-timed thriller. This show deals with anti-terrorism issues, and in a stunning departure from her previous roles, Clare Danes plays an on-edge CIA agent who is faced with impossible choices.

Game of Thrones, another offering from HBO, introduced a dark edge to the fantasy genre and got everyone interested in the George R.R. Martin series. Whether you are a fan of the books, or you only came to see the blood hit the screen, Game of Thrones offers the watching audience plenty of high drama and fascinating choices. While it took audiences a while to warm to this show, it has a lot to offer if you hang in there.

Storage Wars, a show about investigating the contents of abandoned storage units, has ended its second season and shows no signs of slowing down. This show gives the viewer a voyeuristic thrill and the fun of high-stakes bargaining. There are plenty of interesting things to see and each storage unit opened seems to have its own story.

Canceled and Renewed Shows 2011: HBO renews True Blood for season five!

Once again, scoop for our cancelled shows on 2011 and the renewed shows on 2011 reviews.

Today is a day with good news, since USA renewed Suitstrue-blood-cancelled-renewed-season-five-hbo, but another fan favourite cable show got a renewal order.

HBO renewed True Blood for season five! That´s always good news, and Alan Ball´s show that features Anna Paquin will come back for another run next year.

Season five renewal order for True Blood consists of twelve episodes that will see the lights next summer in 2012.

Next month is season four finale, and the official statement was expected to come closer to that date, but the network did not want to wait to announce True Blood´s renewal.

True Blood´s renewal was so expected that Alan Ball signed a deal some days ago and everybody was just expecting this news to become official and toast in a moderate relief. Alan Ball is already responsible for the best series finale ever with Six Feet Under… so this renewal order for True Blood gives him time to think about how to make it with True Blood too. But for the time being, we don´t need to rush him at all. Let´s just enjoy season five of True Blood.

What do you think? Are you happy that HBO renews True Blood for season five? Let me know in the comments section.

True Blood Season Finale Spoiler: Are Sookie and Bill done for good?

True Blood Season Finale Spoiler: Are Sookie and Bill done for good?True Blood Season Finale is just around the corner.

On September 12th True Blood ends a new season, and in this True Blood season finale, some spoilers came to us via Michael Ausiello.

Anna Paquin´s Sookie wants the quits with vampires. Does that mean Sookie and Bill are done for good on True Blood?

Let´s see what Alan Ball himself said:

“Eric (Alexander Skarsgård) grapples with his conscience while plotting his perfect revenge against Russell (Denis O’Hare). Fed up with being “vampire crack,” Sookie (Anna Paquin) considers a new life without Bill (Stephen Moyer)—or any other vampire.  Tara (Rutina Wesley) discovers some surprising news about Sam (Sam Trammell), whose rage resurfaces upon learning of Tommy’s (Marshall Allan) latest transgression. Jason (Ryan Kwanten) finds a new calling after warning Crystal’s (Lindsay Pulsipher) family about an impending drug raid. Plagued by visions, Lafayette (Nelsan Ellis) turns to Jesus (Kevin Alejandro) for help, and learns his boyfriend has more to offer than companionship. Hoyt (Jim Parrack) hopes for a future with Jessica (Deborah Ann Woll), spurning Maxine’s (Dale Raoul) pleas to wed Summer (Melissa Rauch).”

What do you think about this True Blood season finale spoilers? Is Sookie leaving Bill for good on True Blood?

Cancelled Shows 2010: HBO renews True Blood for a fourth season

We are reviewing all the cancelled shows and renewed shows of the season.

HBO has announced the renewal of True Blood for a fourth season.

This True Blood renewal shouldn´t come as a surprise, since the show debuted its third season to ratings record.

Also, if we think that this is an Alan Ball´s show, that means the genius of Six Feet Under behind it, it´s always a good thing to expect.

And, if you think about the cable network… being HBO as careful as it is with its shows, it´s no wonder the True Blood gets an early fourth season renewal, same as happened last year, both with it, Hung, Entourage and all HBO lineup.

Are you happy True Blood is renewed for a fourth season by HBO? I know I am.

Head to the comments and let me know.
