PBS has purchased a second season, therefore renewed Mr Selfridge for season two. Jeremy Piven (“Entourage”) stars as a wheeling-dealing American who shows early 1900s Londoners how to shop. Based on the life of colorful retail magnate Harry Gordon Selfridge, the new eight-part series is created by Emmy Award-winning writer Andrew Davies (“Pride and Prejudice,” “Bleak House”). Also starring are Frances O’Connor (“Madame Bovary”), Aisling Loftus (“Page Eight”), Zoe Tapper (“Zen”), Amanda Abbington (“Case Histories”), and Samuel West (“Any Human Heart”). Who knew shopping could be like this! The show is a dramatization of the life of Harry Selfridge, American founder of the London store. Jeremy Piven (“Entourage”) stars.
The show will air among the series Masterpiece on PBS.
Masterpiece executive producer Rebecca Eaton said, “It is clear from our audience’s reaction that they want more of Harry Selfridge, his family and department store shopping!” And this is another show crossing the pond to good success. Maybe not Downtown Abbey level of success, but success nonetheless. And PBS is holding onto it.
