Ok, so, we are still on Hollywood Week of American Idol Season 8.
Group night was devastating, but over a hundred contestants are still through. Some of them were shown in this week´s recaps, some of them weren´t.
Some of them made it through, some of the ones with more TV air fell along the way, like Katrina Darrell.
Now, it´s time we, here at Series and TV, check out the so far front runners, and at least American Idol Hollywood hopefuls for another shot.
Joanna Pacitti (born October 6, 1984), is a singer/songwriter.
Pacitti was born in Philadelphia, PA to Stella and Joseph Pacitti. She is of Italian and Irish descent.
In 1989, at the age of 5, she started singing to the customers in her father’s barber shop. Her mother enrolled her in dance classes, and she began competing in local talent and dance competitions.
n 1996, when she was 12 years old, she was chosen to star in the 20th Anniversary revival of the musical Annie after entering a contest sponsored by the department store Macy’s. Pacitti starred in 106 performances with the National Tour, obtaining mixed reviews.
Two weeks before the show was to land on Broadway, she became ill with Bronchitis. She returned to find she had been permanently replaced not by her understudy, but by one of the actresses playing an orphan instead. The firing became national news and generated a great deal of publicity. Joanna appeared for interviews on ABC World News Tonight, Good Morning America, American Journal and Turning Point, an in-depth report with Barbara Walters, and employed a public relations strategist to book publicity opportunities with publications and television shows.
acitti was one of three participants in MTV’s First Year, which detailed the process of obtaining various professions over the course of a year. Pacitti is seen attempting to launch a music career in the show.
In 2000, at the age of 16, Pacitti was signed to a contract by A&M Records president Ron Fair, the man who discovered household names such as Christina Aguilera and Vanessa Carlton. She has appeared on some soundtracks, including Legally Blonde (2001), Bratz: Motion Picture Soundtrack (2007), and a five track promotional CD released with Mattel’s My Scene – Chelsea Spring Break (Series 2), called “My Scene – Chelsea Mix”.
In 2002, the Taiwanese girl group S.H.E made a cover of Pacitti’s song “Watch Me Shine”.
In 2005 Joanna appeared in an episode of What I Like About You titled “Sex and the Single Girls” playing Amber, a singer.
In May 2006, Pacitti’s first single, “Let It Slide”, was released under Geffen Records and went to radio at the end of June. Her debut album, This Crazy Life, was released on 15 August 2006.
As of September 2007, Pacitti is no longer signed with Geffen Records.
Pacitti sang the song “Out From Under” on the Bratz: Motion Picture Soundtrack, which Britney Spears covered on her 2008 album Circus.
Pacitti auditioned for season 8 of American Idol in Louisville, Kentucky, in an episode which aired on 21 January 2009. She passed the audition into the Hollywood round. Pacitti’s past accomplishment have stirred debate about whether American Idol contestants should be strictly amateur performers.
