We are reviewing all the cancelled shows and renewed shows of 2011. And the year came out in its first week already giving way to a couple renewals. And cancellations were not happening; but so long happy days. Hiatory cancels The Kennedys and not air the eight episodes season.
When you have Greg Kinnear, Katie Holmes, Tom Wilkinson and Barry Pepper in your cast, you´d think you´ll air and probably have your fair share of success. However, The Kennedys won´t even air on History.
The Kennedyswill still air in Canada in March, and producers will reportedly try to bring the miniseries to a pay cable network. (Update: Showtime also passed on The Kennedys)
Which cable network could that be? Maybe Showtime´s a good guess and fit.
But there´s still no word on how everything will unfold.
As The Hollywood Reporter first reported:
“While the film is produced and acted with the highest quality,” said a network rep in a statement, “after viewing the final product in its totality, we have concluded this dramatic interpretation is not a fit for the History brand. We recognize historical fiction is an important medium for storytelling and commend all the hard work and passion that has gone into the making of the series, but ultimately deem this as the right programming decision for our network”
So, what do you think about The Kennedys cancellation by History before even airing? Would you watch it if there was one? Let me know in the comments section.
