glee-cancelled-end-renewedThe announcement has not been made official by the network, and instead it was showrunner and co-creator Ryan Murphy who said that Glee will end after season six. So when the contracts are up, that´s it for the show. It is not that Glee is getting cancelled, it´s actually that the show want to go out while still ahead with a planned exit and a proper series finale that can honor a successful run and also serve as another farewell to Cory Monteith´s Finn.

At a Paley Center event, Murphy explained that “The final year of the show, which will be next year, was designed around Rachel and Cory/Finn’s story. I always knew that, I always knew how it would end. I knew what the last shot was – he was in it. I knew what the last line was – she said it to him. So when a tragedy like that happens you sort of have to pause and figure out what you want to do, so we’re figuring that out now.

So as of now, the series finale of Glee will be around May 2015. Mark your calendars Gleeks and prepare your goodbyes.
