flight of the conchords gets cancelledWe are reviewing all the cancelled shows and renewed shows of the season.

And now… one that the fans are going to rave against… Flight of the Conchords gets cancelled.

But apparently that´s because of a decision by the show creators, as they stated in the show´s official website.

“Bret, Jemaine and James (co-creator/director) said ‘we’ve noticed the less we say about the future of the show, the more people want to talk about it, so in an effort to reverse this trend we are today announcing that we won’t be returning for a 3rd season. We’re very proud of the two seasons we made and we like the way the show ended. We’d like to thank everyone who helped make the show and also everyone who watched it. While the characters Bret and Jemaine will no longer be around, the real Bret and Jemaine will continue to exist.’”

Flight of the Conchords is a New Zealand comedy duo composed of Bret McKenzie and Jemaine Clement. Billing themselves as “Formerly New Zealand’s fourth most popular guitar-based digi-bongo acapella-rap-funk-comedy folk duo”, the group uses a combination of witty observation, characterisation and acoustic guitar music. The duo’s comedy and music became the basis of a BBC radio series and then an American television series, which premiered in 2007, also called Flight of the Conchords.

They were named Best Alternative Comedy Act at the 2005 US Comedy Arts Festival and Best Newcomer at the Melbourne Comedy Festival, and they received a nomination for the Perrier Comedy Award at the 2003 Edinburgh Festival Fringe after performing at a venue called The Caves. The duo’s live performances have gained them a worldwide cult following.

Flight of the Conchords is a television comedy series that follows the adventures of the Flight of the Conchords, a two-man novelty band from New Zealand, as its members seek fame and success in New York City. The show stars the real-life duo, Jemaine Clement and Bret McKenzie, who play fictionalized versions of themselves.

The show was created by Clement, McKenzie and James Bobin. Bobin serves as the show’s main writer and director. The first episode of the series aired on HBO in 2007. Season 2 of Flight of the Conchords premiered on HBO and HBO Canada in 2009.

In December 2009, the duo announced that they will not be returning for a third season.

Are you sad that Flight of the Conchords is cancelled and won´t get a third season?
