Olivia-Holt-Interview-I-Didnt-Do-It-Disney“I Didn’t Do It” premieres on Disney Channel January 17, 2014 at 9:40/8:40c, so, since the show is right about to start, I thought you would like for me to talk about it, since I was lucky enough to see the premiere upfront (one of the perks of working in this industry, right?) and also had the chance to talk with the show´s star Olivia Holt about the upcoming premiere, the show and what we can expect.

The show tells the story of twin brother and sister Lindy and Logan and their friends Jasmine, Garrett and Delia somehow try to explain – with flashback scenes – exactly what happened since each episode begins at the end of a predicament, just after an adventure has gone absurdly haywire. The interesting part about this show is that you already know what happened and you learn how it happened during the episode.

The first episode, the premiere, begins when both twins, Lindy and Logan, with the rest of the gang are trying to explain the aftermath of a party gone hayride that even includes a goat (as every party is better with a goat), a python, a 91 year-old nanny thrown out a window and a washing machine turned foam machine.

Inseparable since they all met in third grade, the five best friends have experienced every major (and minor) life event together and know everything about each other, including their individual personality quirks and habits.

Lindy is a model student, ambitious and enthusiastic, while Logan is the polar-opposite of his sister – extremely laidback and more focused on creating an epic freshman year than epic grades. Garrett is a bit of a germaphobe and can be obsessive about the most obscure details. A fashionista since third grade, Jasmine thrives on good grades, pulling off daring pranks and having the perfect outfit for every occasion. Rounding out the group is the loveable eccentric and outspoken Delia. If there’s something that shouldn’t be said out loud, Delia has probably already blurted it out, much to her friends’ chagrin and secret delight.

Now the five teenagers are ready to embark on their freshman year at DITKA High School, located in Evanston, a Chicago suburb. When they’re not in school, they can be found in their two main hang-out spots: the highly coveted center couch at Rumble Juice, their favorite healthy neighborhood smoothie bar, which shakes every time a train passes due to its location underneath the train tracks, and Lindy and Logan’s basement, which the kids converted into their personal game room and teen hub.

Together, the five best friends turn everyday adolescent issues into a fiasco waiting to happen. But, no matter the situation – a misguided skydiving trip, getting trapped in their high school garbage room, an out of control house party, or hiding a 91-year-old babysitter – Lindy, Logan, Jasmine, Garrett and Delia are always there for each other. And with every zany happenstance, they all have vivid memories of how it all began.

Starring are Olivia Holt (“Kickin’ It,” “Girl vs. Monster”) as Lindy, Austin North (“A.N.T. Farm,” “Kickin’ It”) as Logan, Piper Curda (“A.N.T. Farm,” “Rule the Mix”) as Jasmine, Peyton Clark (“Danger Jane”) as Garrett and Sarah Gilman (“Last Man Standing”) as Delia.

As part of my coverage for the premiere of this show, I had the chance to talk with Olivia Holt for the premiere of I Didn´t Do It, and asked her to tell me a bit more about the show, and her character Lindy.

She´s a well intentioned girl that always turns out in the middle of trouble, she has a good heart and she loves her friends a lot. Even her brother Logan, with whom she has a brotherly relationship, in which they annoy each other, but they also love each other a lot. Every character is unique, and brings something to the table, wether because she´s quirky, or a fashionista, or the shy low key guy. They are all so different but they all share the most important thing. The love for each other. You´ll notice that right from the first episode.

Then we discussed something about all those flashbacks…

Oh, we get the scripts and read them as you see them on TV, so we pretty much find out what happened the same way you do at home. And that´s so much fun, getting there and knowing what kind of trouble it is now“.

We also talked about the chemistry on the set…

We are such great friends, just like we are on screen, we are exactly like that, always goofing around and having fun. It´s like a big family with the rest of the cast, and the crew. We spend so much time together and we have tons of fun; and I think it shows and you´ll notice when you watch the show. It´s a big family, all of us friends having fun. We love working together.

And we couldn´t be talking to Olivia and not ask her what it feels being in Disney…

It´s a dream come true. I grew up watching all the shows and films from Disney, so now being working in Disney for five years now is unbelievable, it´s what every kid dreams about, and I can do it (…) We´ve been going to Disneyland with my family for years now; the first time I went I was so little I don´t even remember, but we go all the time, and I love all the rides“.

Finally, there´s no interview that can end without asking about the fans…

I love my fans, they are the reason I´m here, so I love talking with them, sharing with them, being involved with Social Media, getting to talk to them and showing what I´m doing“.
