This January a new show on Fox is starting: Lucifer, as the dark lord comes to earth because he is bored downstairs and will try to get the bad guys in this world without waiting in the line until they meet the maker. I had the chance to watch Lucifer Pilot in advance to review it, so we´ll talk about it in this article.

Lucifer Pilot Synopsis

The Devil has come to Los Angeles…Based upon the characters created by Neil Gaiman, Sam Kieth and Mike Dringenberg for DC Entertainment’s Vertigo imprint, LUCIFER is the story of the original fallen angel. Bored and unhappy as the Lord of Hell, LUCIFER MORNINGSTAR (Tom Ellis, “Merlin”) has abandoned his throne and retired to L.A., where he owns Lux, an upscale nightclub. Charming, charismatic and devilishly handsome, Lucifer is enjoying his retirement, indulging in a few of his favorite things – wine, women and song – when a beautiful pop star is brutally murdered outside of Lux. For the first time in roughly 10 billion years, he feels something awaken deep within him as a result of this murder. Compassion? Sympathy? The very thought disturbs him – as well as his best friend and confidante, MAZIKEEN aka MAZE (Lesley-Ann Brandt, “The Librarians”), a fierce demon in the form of a beautiful young woman. The murder attracts the attention of LAPD homicide detective CHLOE DANCER (Lauren German, “Chicago Fire”), who initially is dismissive of Lucifer. But she becomes intrigued by his talent for drawing out people’s secrets and his desire to dispense justice, doling out punishment to those who deserve it. As they work together to solve the pop star’s murder, Lucifer is struck by Chloe’s inherent goodness. Accustomed to dealing with the absolute worst of humanity, Lucifer is intrigued by Chloe’s apparent purity and begins to wonder if there’s hope for his own soul yet. At the same time, God’s emissary, the angel AMENADIEL (DB Woodside, “Suits,” “24”), has been sent to Los Angeles to convince Lucifer to return to the underworld…can the Devil incarnate be tempted toward the side of Good, or will his original calling pull him back toward Evil?

This show premieres Monday January 25th 9/8 C on Fox.

Lucifer Pilot Review

In The Beginning… The Angel Lucifer was cast out of heaven and condemned to rule hell for all eternity. Until he decided to take a vacation… And he decided to take his vacation in Los Angeles. Not a bad choice.

So in the first scene Lucifer tries to bribe a police officer, of course successfully and in the clear open. And then he arrives in his sports car to his own nightclub “Lux” where we get to meet Maze, the demon sidekick who tells Lucifer she did not leave hell to be a bartender and that they should do something more significant.

In that very same initial scene we meet Amenadiel, an angel who is Godsent and tries to convince Lucifer to go back to hell, because as he puts it: “What do you think happens with those evil tortured souls when nobody´s in hell to watch them?” And you, as a viewer want to know… and you are laready betting that they are coming this way.

Delilah, an actress Lucifer helped asks her if she sold her soul to the the devil, and he replies “That would mean the devil is interested in your soul”… and after that the shooting of Delilah and the kickoff of this new interest in crime solving by Lucifer will begin, only after introducing agent Dancer and learning she has some bad case in her past. And we are up to the twelve minutes mark of Lucifer Pilot and I won´t keep on going as to not spoil anything about it. All I am going to say is that Lucifer may be one of the best new shows in Broadcast for 2016. I am very hopeful in this one, and the Pilot did not disappoint at all.
