Shades of Blue premiered, and with it Jenny is back to the block in this new show headlined by Jennifer Lopez as a NYPD policewoman.
The cast that is besides J-Lo is as solid as it gets, with Drea DeMatteo and Ray Liotta, and other good actors like Dayo Okeniyi, Vincent Laresca, Hampton Fluker, Sarah Jeffery and Santino Fontana.

Harlee Santos (Jennifer Lopez) is a charismatic single mother and resourceful detective at the heart of a tight-knit crew of Brooklyn detectives, led by enigmatic Lt. Matt Wozniak (Ray Liotta, “Goodfellas,” “Field of Dreams”) who often leads the team to step outside the limitations of the law in order to effectively protect their precinct and their own.

As a big illegal job looms on the horizon, the FBI catches Harlee in the act and pits her against her own unit. As a newly turned informant, Harlee struggles to safeguard her on-the-job family and avoid arrest in order to stay with her daughter. Harlee engages in a perilous dance with her FBI handler, Special Agent Stahl (Warren Kole), who develops an unhealthy obsession with her. Meanwhile, Wozniak, acting as the unit’s patriarch, begins an all-consuming hunt for the informant. Pressure mounts as the crew struggles to perform their brand of street justice under FBI watch.

Now, after watching the pilot episode, I will give you my two cents on the show.

Shades of Blue review

1- My first cent: This is by no means a Jennifer Lopez vehicle and no more than that, quite the contrary, the show is giving the other characters screen time and storylines. Of course Drea DeMatteo and Ray Liotta are headliners, but the rest of the cast, even though not household names you will see them fit right into the show, while also get recognition from this one.

2- My second cent: Having said that, Jennifer Lopez rocks it. It´s been a long time since she was a fulltime actress and I didn´t realize how much she should be missed when she is not in front of a camera acting. Sure, she has lots of interests, and she is successful at most anything she puts her work on, but boy can she act!
