Britain’s Got Talent is a British television show on ITV and part of the Got Talent series. Presented by Ant & Dec, it is a search for Britain’s next best talent act featuring singers, dancers, comedians, variety acts, and other talents of all ages. Anyone who believed they have talent was encouraged to audition. The winner of both series received £100,000 and are given the opportunity to perform at the Royal Variety Performance in front of members of the Royal Family, including the Queen.
On the first semifinal, Darth Jackson went after Diversity on Britain´s Got Talent and Sue Sun´s performance.
Who is Darth Jackson on Britain´s Got Talent?
Simon Cowell didn’t like him, and the audience chanted “Off! Off! Off!” throughout his act, but Darth Jackson won his Britain’s Got Talent battle in the end.
The unique dual talents of the 37 year-old postal worker finally turned an undecided Amanda and Piers around – but Philip found his onstage experience rather distressing.
He told us: “I got through it, but I was upset by the crowd’s reaction. When they chanted ‘Off, off, off… that upset me. I would say my audition was… mixed.”
Keeping his concentration during the uproar wasn’t the performer’s only distraction – because the crowd got restless when his musical accompaniment failed.
“First of all my backing track went wrong. It played all of the Imperial March, and then it played Billie Jean in a loop. This really put me off.”
Then calamity! Simon called his precious light sabre a toy!
Darth [not his real name] said: “Simon called it a toy light sabre and I had to be quick to defend it; it’s actually the force effects light sabre.
The toy light sabre is plastic and it has a telescopic blade. This light sabre has an authentic metal handle; it also reacts to movement and the sounds from Star Wars movies.”
Darth plays just as much attention to detail with his Jackson garb. “I get my clothes – like the trousers and the socks – especially made from a website that makes clothes for Michael Jackson fans.”
And as if there was any doubt, he explained: “I’m an extremely big fan of Michael Jackson. I have loved him since 1987 and I have been to two of his concerts – the Dangerous tour in 1992 and the History tour in 1997.
And what would Jacko make of his Darth Vader-styled tribute? “I don’t know – but I would love to meet him one day. I hope he might like it.”
“I’ve been doing Michael Jackson for a long time at Karaoke nights, it goes down well.”
“But, the Star Wars light sabre routine I practiced at home, especially for Britain’s Got Talent”.
Whether Jacko catches his act or not, the postie hopes to improve next time around.
