We are fresh out the first and second elimination of American Idol 10, and while a little time ago we posted where to follow each American Idol finalist on Twitter, I made a theory about Twitter predicting American Idol´s winner and eliminations.
Last time, when Twitter predicted Karen going, Y told you Naima, Jacob and Haley should perform better on stage and on Twitter to save themselves. Well, Haley had the bigger growth out of all the contestants. Naima had all the praises from the judges, and Jacob had the Steven Tyler kiss. That sure helped them.
But what happened? Stefano Langone, Thia Megia and Casey Abrams bottom three? Well, taking apart that growth from the suspected bottom three, Stefano was the next in line in terms of followers and had bad criticism about connection with the audience, and both Thia and Casey had the lowest percentage growth from week to week.
But definitely Casey being out I didn´t see it coming, and much less the judges decision!
So, how do they stand now?
American Idol Finalists ranked by Twitter followers (as of March 24)
Scotty McCreery 44125
Casey Abrams 41949
Paul McDonald 35764
Lauren Alaina 31234
Pia Toscano 30468
Thia Megia 29316
James Durbin 28742
Stefano Langone 27024
Jacob Lusk 17816
Haley Reinhart 16549
Naima Adedapo 13714
Karen Rodriguez 16227
American Idol Finalists ranked by Twitter followers growth (as of March 24)
Scotty McCreery 6575 18%
Casey Abrams 5324 15%
Paul McDonald 5222 17%
Lauren Alaina 4624 17%
Pia Toscano 4683 18%
Thia Megia 3697 14%
James Durbin 4168 17%
Stefano Langone 4128 18%
Jacob Lusk 2603 17%
Haley Reinhart 2947 22%
Naima Adedapo 1752 15%
As it seems now, it´s not only to have a big Twitter following, but to keep growing it! Take notice Scotty McCreery, you are the clear frontrunner, but you need to keep it up, after all, Casey was second to you!
What do you think? Can Twitter predict American Idol results? What else can it predict?
