As we approach the end of the year, we are rounding out how the lists of cancelled shows of 2012 and renewed shows of 2012 are going to end up looking. And now, let´s add another one, as Discovery cancelled American Guns after two seasons. It appears that the decision was made some time ago, but it´s just surfacing now. The second season of the show has ended a while ago, and was not planned to bring it back, but, after some backlash after the Connecticut shooting, the cabler decided not only to announce American Guns getting cancelled, but also that reruns of the show won´t air.
Ratings wise, the show was underperforming to what expectations were, so according to the network, that was the reason for cancelling American Guns, that there were no more storylines to tell about the Wyatts, and nothing related to the backlash from the shooting. Timing is, though.
The series centered on the blended family where patriarch Rich Wyatt, his wife and his stepchildren run Gunsmoke Guns, located in Wheat Ridge, Colorado. They specialize in gun manufacture, trade, customization, and instruction.
