What is It´s On With Alexa Chung About? – Plot

The series, designed to be a mash-up of television and web content, hosted by British model-turned-television personality Alexa Chung, will feature and showcase live music performances, celebrity appearances and interviews, the latest videos and spotlight content from social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter, all designed to reach a young audience who have moved to these websites and other outlets. It is also a “successor” to MTV’s Total Request Live, and is hoping to use Chung’s profile as a model and television presenter to help promote this program as a way to bring younger viewers back to television. Chung commented about hosting a show that will air weekdays at 12 Noon, “I’m used to being on the hangover slot,” refering to “Popworld,” her former Sunday morning hosting gig on the UK’s Channel 4.

According to the show’s executive producer Corin Nelson, the show will make use of Twitter and Facebook in order to “make sure there aren’t a lot of layers of filters so people feel like they’re part of the audience”. Nelson gives examples such as using viewers’ Facebook profiles as song lyrics and allowing viewers to ask questions to celebrities via Twitter.
