Things haven´t looked good for The Unit for a while… and everything was pointing towards The Unit being cancelled…
And, as expected, The Unit is officially cancelled by CBS…
The Unit is an American action-drama television series that focuses on a top-secret military unit modeled after the real life Delta Force.
What is The Unit About? – Plot
Based on show producer Eric Haney’s book, Inside Delta Force: The Story of America’s Elite Counterterrorist Unit (ISBN 0-440-23733-5), The Unit was created for television and executive produced by David Mamet and Shawn Ryan. The show is produced by The Barn Productions Inc., David Mamet Entertainment, and Fire Ants Films in association with 20th Century Fox Television.
Internationally, The Unit premiered on October 3, 2006 in the United Kingdom on Bravo, on October 11, 2006 in Australia on the Seven Network, and on FOX8 Cable TV on Foxtel/Austar Cable network, on January 11 in Spain on La Sexta, on January 25 in The Netherlands on RTL 5, on March 7 in Germany on Sat. 1, on September 23 in Bulgaria on bTV and on March 9 2008 in Russia on DTV.
The theme music for the first and second season was “Fired Up”, an adaptation of the United States Marine Corps running cadence song “Fired Up…Feels Good” by Robert Duncan. He also created “Walk the Fire”, a 22-second segment used as a theme since season three.

I feel that the Unit is one of the most eye opening shows to hit national TV. PC or not it shows people of this country that we are at war, and it shows the sacrifice and dirty deeds that must be done to protect this country. The Unit is just the tip of the iceburg. U.S. forces take great pride in what they do, and the fact that there has been a TV show depicting what they do in real life is amazing. I think CBS made a bad call here.
Wow…Here we go again! The Unit is cancelled and CBS produces more crappy TV…Nothing was wrong with The Unit! It is heart-pounding action with a very good plot, and it shows what lengths men will go to to protect their country and families.
Now, we must suffer through yet another “season” of “Adults Behaving Badly for Money”, i.e Big Brother. A show with no class, no morality, no positive message. All the effort given to air this show to give Julie Chen more face time should have been given to keep quality TV like The Unit.
What ever happened to assembling a successful block of shows to WIN in the ratings? I remember when NCIS was the lead-in show for The Unit…and BOTH shows fared well. CBS then constantly moved The Unit and pre-empted it with that trash, Big Brother. Oh, well…guess I’ll watch NCIS and then go back to watching Law and Order…
Strangely enough, CBS is starting to shuffle The Mentalist in the same way they did The Unit…Guess they don’t want that show to succeed either…
I’ve spent the last 20 years with the military and really enjoyed this show. The Unit displayed themes of morality, honor, code and discipline. It shows the viewers about the trials my family faced while I was deloyed (Ok, my family wasn’t ever kidnapped or things like that), but how they miss you, yet carry on while you are gone.
I can’t believe that this has been cancelled and shows like Surviver, The Amazing Race, Big Brother etc etc, lasts. Pretty pathetic that greed wins the hearts and minds of the viewers!!

Loved this show. Extremely well done, and had a great message. One of the few that I tuned into weekly and/or had set to record on my DVR. I refuse to watch the the steady diet of low quality “reality TV” that my fellow viewers (apparently) enjoy.
I can’t believe they cancel the unit. I love the show and I enjoyed it very much. How disappointing, they should cancel john and kate plus 8 instead!!!!or those stupid reality shows.
I am very dissapointed that THE UNIT will not be on this season. It was one of my top three must watch shows.
The Unit is one of the most interesting and realistic shows on television. Instead of an NCIS Spin Off on Tuesday nights at 9, why didn’t CBS put The Unit back into it’s old time slot? Makes you wonder if they actually watch the shows, and at the times they (CBS) schedule them. I am still hoping they bring The Unit back.
The Unit was one of my favorite TV Series. Being ex military I found it to be a great show. I am VERY disapointed that it has been canceled and I feel that it was a BIG Mistake. They left it un done. BRING IT BACK!!!
It seems that any “smart show” gets the axe. America is becoming a thoughtless nation looking to be entertained and not challenged academically. The Unit was a well writen show that required thinking. CBS is simply pandering to our lowest shelf. It’s a sad day.
i belive this show was cancelled due to fact it show our service men and women fighting for there country no matter WHAT THE NETWORKS OR CONTROLED BACK A SIMPLE MINDED BROWN NOSER WHO WOULD SALE IS ON MOTHER TO PLEASE OUT SIDE REASONS
The Unit was one of the best shows CBS has aired in a long time. Cancelling it was a huge mistake, all the shows they have now are mind numbing and I dont understand how people watch them. I hate reality tv! The Unit was something my family could watch together, we were excited each week for it to come on. Plus the actors could ACTUALLY act and were entertaining and thats something you dont see anymore! Not to mention, it gave the world a glimps of the reality of our men and women serving the USA and the hardships of the families involved. They left so many lose ends to the series, Give us season 5 and give the show a proper ending!!
I refuse to watch cbs after they canceled THE UNIT. It was the best show on TV and the only thing CBS had worth its salt!!!

wts really goin on is tht if there must be a war…..then it must be there for the right reasons…..not its there, then ppl ve 2 deal with it….and make heroes out of people who got cheated into doing stuff …they shouldnt ve even heared of….killing many innocent ppl in the process and gettin killed em selves
if there wasnt a war….there wouldnt ve been any recesion….jobs wouldnt be lost….and families wouldnt be broken…

The Unit was a good show. Maybe it might not have been realistic, but even the reality shows are not realistic most of the time. The Unit was about more than just the soldiers, it was also about the wives/family, and some of the things we military wives deal with. Yes, some of those things were exaggerated, but more than that it revealed how we have to learn to handle things on our own a lot of the time. I am disappointed this show was cancelled, especially in a time when we have our men and women fighting. Showing the Unit being victorious was inspiring and uplifting….it would be patriotic and an expression of support for our troops (not support for the war) to bring the Unit back and continue to show our military force is a force to be reckoned with. Until then I guess I will just watch Army Wives and NBC station.
This sucks another good show cancelled. I really enjoyed watching the Unit cause it gave us civilians a look into the life of an enlisted person’s life. I am very dissappointed once again with tv programing.
