The summer phenom for well over a decade is getting the callback after a very controversial season, as CBS renews Big Brother for season sixteen.
This year was perhaps the only chance when there might be a little bit of a doubt in terms of getting the juggernaut cancelled or not, as it was amidst criticism because of racial slurs by competitors and other casting related mishaps.
But despite the controversy, not only did CBS renew Big Brother, but also TVGN renewed companion series Big Brother: After Dark.
Big Brother will also continue for a long time internationally, so, besides some hiccups, the franchise is quite very healthy still.
The current 15th season of Big Brother will conclude with a 90-minute finale next Wednesday at 9:30 PM, immediately following the season premiere of another long-running CBS reality series, Survivor. Big Brother is executive produced by Allison Grodner and Rich Meehan for Fly on the Wall Entertainment, in association with Endemol USA.
