under-the-dome-cancelled-renewed-cbs-second-seasonAs part of the TCA´s panels that are happening this week, CBS has announced the renewal of Under The Dome for a second season that will consist of thirteen episodes, and this comes as no shocker at all, since the show has been quite a success in the ratings, averaging 13.84 million viewers and 3.5 ratings in the adults 18-49 key demo.

But that´s not all the good news, CBS also announced that Stephen King himself will pen the second season premiere. “We’re excited to tell more stories about the mystery of the dome and the secrets in Chester’s Mill, and are thrilled to have the master storyteller himself, Stephen King, tell the first one of next season,” said CBS Entertainment President Nina Tassler.

The first season of the show ends with a huge cliffhanger, according to what EP Brian Vaughan said at Comic Con last week, so fans will be fortunate that this show will not leave it at that… and after all, with those numbers, why would it?
