It seems like adding the term celebrity to any reality competition or reality show can make it breath a new life to any show, even though most use the term celebrity quite loosely, as the case of Celebrity Wife Swap, getting renewed for season three after a second season that featured spouses tradings from Kate Gosselin or Kendra Wilkinson, Sisqo and some other D-listers and hasbeen´s. But anyways, ABC renewed Celebrity Wife Swap for a third season with 13 episodes, with celebrities yet to be announced.
In each one-hour episode, two mothers with radically different backgrounds and values swap lives and children for one week. The first part of the challenge is for each mom to move into the other’s home and adopt their new celebrity family, no matter how different the lifestyle. They agree to follow a manual written by the departing mother outlining the rules of the “nest” – how to parent, manage their social life, perform household chores and unwind. During the second half of the week everything changes when “new mom” takes charge and introduces her own set of rules. The results are eye opening, enlightening, emotional and often very funny.
Then, in a potentially highly-charged exchange of views, the two celebrity couples meet for the first time since the swap and make frank assessments of each other, discussing candidly what they’ve learned from the experience. In the process, the kids and partners discover what it would be like to live a life completely unlike their own.
