During tonight´s episode of The Walking Dead “Here´s Not Here”, AMC unveiled the official trailer for Preacher, its newest addition to an already great lineup of shows. A new adaptation coming from the Comic Book Mania that has taken over television lately: After all, the biggest hit of these days is The Walking Dead, there´s a lot of Marvel and DC Comics shows from both universes, there´s iZombie and many more. And now, Preacher is joining forces. Preacher comes from one of the houses of DC, called Vertigo. The comic books started in 1995 and lasted through 2000 and had a few attempts of being adapted. Now it´s time for AMC to try. And in AMC we trust to do a good job with this nine episodes first season.
Based on the twisted and popular ‘90s comic book franchise of the same name, “Preacher,” created by Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon, is the story of Jesse Custer (Dominic Cooper, Agent Carter) a conflicted Preacher in a small Texas town who is inhabited by a mysterious entity that allows him to develop a highly unconventional power. Jesse, his ex-girlfriend, Tulip (Ruth Negga, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.), and an Irish vampire named Cassidy (Joseph Gilgun, This Is England) embark on a journey to, literally, find God. The Sony Pictures Television and AMC Studios co-production was developed for television by Seth Rogen & Evan Goldberg (“This Is the End,” “Superbad,” “Neighbors”) and showrunner Sam Catlin (“Breaking Bad”). The series is set to premiere mid-2016.
