For those of us who grew up in the eighties and nineties, watching Jack Palance in the Ripley´s Believe it or Not TV Show was a must. So, when we took our trip to Orlando, Florida, we knew we neeed to visit Ripley´s Believe It Or Not Museum.
Watching that old show was all about exploring the unknown, learning about the singulars, the strange, the bizarre, the mouth opening and sometimes the macabre. Visiting the Ripley´s Believe it or not museum in Orlando Florida is the same experience, only one you an immerse yourself into.
Among the rarities you´ll find different collections: Some “Freaks of Nature”, some artifacts, some animals, some cultural devices, and some amazing things like a portrait of Jimi Hendrix made of 8500 poker cards.
You can take as little as one hour to tour it, to up to around four hours, depending on what else you did the same day, how tired you are and how into the details you are. I´d say two and a half hours is a good average.
Even though you are probably not going to plan your whole trip around visiting this Museum, it is a very good option for one of the days you are not visiting the big Theme Parks, or for rainy days. Also, parking is free and easy.
There are several Ripley´s Believe it or not museums in the United States: New York City, San Francisco, Hollywood, Key West, Panama City, St Augustine, El Paso, Gran Prairie, San Antonio, Baltimore, Ocean City, Branso, Atlantic City, Newport, Myrtle Beach, Gatlinburg, Williamburg, Wisconsin Dells and Jackson. As a side note, each of those venues across the US has a different front, so you can even collect your picture in front of it.
Oh, and the souvenir shop has some cool stuff.
I hope you enjoy it when you visit Orlando, my bet is you will, and it will make for a fun afternoon before dinner, or when you are checking out International Drive attractions.
