It´s always interesting to keep updated the lists of renewed shows on 2011 and all the cancelled shows on 2011, and see which shows are getting the nod to comeback and which aren´t.
This time, Fox renewing New Girl is not exactly a renewal per se, but instead it is a pickup for full season order.
After seeing the numbers and the critics and audience success of the first two oustings of the show, it was expected to see this news happening. Fox giving New Girl a first season full pickup. And bringing the total lenght of the first season to twenty four episodes, and not only the regular twenty two most shows get. So eleven more episodes of New Girl to enlarge the freshman run.
The official pickup / renewal order for New Girl was done by Kevin Reilly, President of Entertainment at Fox Broadcasting Company:
“We love the charming Zooey Deschanel and the entire cast, we’re knocked out with the work that Liz Meriwether and the whole staff is doing and we are really psyched about the upcoming episodes in the pipeline,” said Reilly. “It’s great that audiences have responded so positively so far and we’re confident that even more people will embrace the show – and more comedy on FOX – this season.”
The show is hinting towards a kiss or relationship between Nick and Jess on New Girl, but with the added episodes, I´d say it´s safe to bet that it won´t happen for a while.
