For anyone interested in visiting Fort Lauderdale and enjoy a vacation there, I am going to introduce Lago Mar Beach Resort and Club, the hotel where we stayed on our trip there.

Location
It is a bit hidden, as it is in the middle of a residential area, but less than five minutes away by car from Las Olas Boulevard, and downtown; while also being beachfront.
At first glance, you´d think that it is a con for the hotel, but it actually ends up being a pro, as it is located in a quiet calm area, with little to no traffic, making it an ideal place to relax and enjoy vacations.

The room
In the video below you will see the hotel and room tour. That was the room we stayed in. You can draw your own conclusions.

As you can see the room was spacious and had a partial view of the ocean.
Probably the part that could be better is the kitchen area, especially for families traveling with kids. For us, a couple, it was ok.
The best part was the bathroom divided into sections, so we could use different areas at the same moment, and that is very comfortable and useful.
The room had enough space, and the living room area and the closet could take everything we bought at Sawgrass Mills and other stores… and boy we bought a lot.
The bed and the pillows were amazeballs.
The decor both in the room and the rest of the hotel was very tasteful.

Lago Mar Beach Resort and Club Activities and amenities

Swimming pools

Two pools, one in the shape of a lake, with an island in the middle; perfect for families, and the kids´ favorite. The other pool is a traditional rectangle pool for adults. Both have a safety perimeter fence, deck chairs, poolside lounges, and reclines,  and lifeguards.

Private beach:
If you go to Fort Lauderdale you will want to enjoy the beach, and Lago Mar has a big private 500-foot beach area. Just steps away from the swimming pools and the kids’ games area. Beach chairs are free to use for guests, and you only pay if you want an umbrella.

Minigolf:
An area for the whole family to play and go through a few holes while enjoying a little break from the beach and the pool. Free and available for anyone to use.
Giant Chess:
I, as an avid chess player, particularly enjoyed this amenity, and couldn´t leave without playing a game. Luckily, I found someone else to play. Funnily enough, we played the whole game in English, and when we ended and introduced ourselves, he was Mexican and I´m Argentinian.
Shuffleboard: two courts.
Kids´ area: many games.

Sports:
Four tennis courts
Two beach volleyball courts
Basketball area

Spa:

If you want to pamper yourself a bit, you can take a look at the spa, which includes sauna, massages, beauty treatments. We took a look at it but did not use it, as our trip had a tight schedule, but I have my eyes set on it for next time.
Gym:

Not a huge gym, but enough to keep your workouts going while enjoying the view to the lake.

Restaurants:
Six different options in the premises to eat and drink. We only took a bite of the breakfast buffet and enjoy it, but every meal we ended up eating out so I cannot tell you much about the food. Restaurants are for hotel guests only. Options include Aquario, Palm Garden and Seagrape, Bodega, The Soda Shop, The Promenade Bar and room service.

On property Shops:
The Boutique: with options for men, women, and kids, everything you may need on the beach: flip flops, towels, sunglasses, hats. You can also buy dresses, bijouterie, and many other options.
The Shop: In the same area as The Soda Shop a little self-service minimarket to buy anything you may be missing on your bags.

Other noteworthy features of Lago Mar Beach Resort and Club:

No parking fees.
No WiFi fees.
No Resort Fee (Which is amazing as almost every other resort charges around 25-30 bucks a day in resort fees).
No cash on property shops and restaurants. Everything gets charged to the rooms, so you don´t need to go to the beach with your wallet.

All in all a very good option for a family vacation in Fort Lauderdale, with everything you need to have right on the premises, and you will only need to go outside for main area attractions and outlet shopping.
