This new show on Syfy is about to premiere and here´s a preview look at it as this miniseries TV event is getting ready to go, so you can decide wether to watch it or not.
The Expanse Syfy“The Expanse” is a 10-hour epic thriller based on the international best-selling book series of the same name.
The series is set two hundred years in the future, after mankind has colonized the solar system. A hardened detective (Thomas Jane, “Hung”) and a rogue ship’s captain (Steven Strait, “Magic City”) come together for what starts as the case of a missing young woman and evolves into a race across the solar system to expose the greatest conspiracy in human history. Emmy winner and Oscar nominee Shohreh Aghdashloo (“House of Saddam,” “House of Sand and Fog”) portrays Chrisjen Avasarala, a member of a political family dynasty.

Other series regulars are Dominique Tipper (“Vampire Academy”), Cas Anvar (“Olympus”), Wes Chatham (“The Hunger Games: Mockingjay”) and Florence Faivre (“Alpha House,” “The Following”). Jonathan Banks (“Community,” “Breaking Bad”), Paulo Costanzo (“Royal Pains”), and Jay Hernandez (“Nashville,” “Gang Related”) will appear as guest stars throughout the series’ first season.
The series is based on the popular New York Times bestselling book series collectively known as “The Expanse,” written by Daniel Abraham and Ty Franck (under the pen name James S. A. Corey). Abraham and Franck will be show producers.

In the very first scene we see someone escape from some sort of prison, and being able to walk on the walls… a mysterious blood mark on a wall, a corpse floating and some crazy stuff happening… and then the opening credits.
The tone is set for the show.

As per usual in sci-fi… future is dystopian, clothes have not evolved all that much, drones are flying around. It seems future had us evolving in some ways, but not so much on others. It appears that in the future, police has many ways the same as these days, and some are changed, but the good cop bad cop routine will outlive us all at least a couple centuries according to The Expanse.

The show looks much more polished than what Syfy has us used to, and the effects are not so poor as other shows that need to make it up with the story. In this case, the story can try and evolve slower.
Another thing that happens in the future is no gravity floating sex… but what I don´t get is why you would use a sheet to cover while floating.

The show does look good and we want to see what happens on the flashback at the beginning of the episode… but, the show could have a tad of a faster pace, but it is definitely worth watching.
