This day has been a busy one for HBO with the renewal of The Newsroom and the renewal of True Blood, that are all added to the lists of cancelled shows of 2012 and renewed shows of 2012. And in this case, a cult favourite is coming back after it was pressumably getting to an end. HBO renewed Eastbound & Down and I think most were thinking this wasn´t happening, given how the show ended last season.
This Saturday, February 25, NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) team MAKE Motorsports will kick off the 2012 season with a sponsorship from HBO and the hit comedy series EASTBOUND & DOWN. In celebration of the HBO series’ season three debut on Feb. 19, the network will sponsor the #50 Chevrolet driven by T.J. Bell at DRIVE4COPD 300 at Daytona International Speedway. Continue reading
Boardwalk Empire is set to come back for its eight episode on Sunday November 7th, in an episode called Hold me in Paradise.
Nucky travels to Chicago to attend the Republican National Convention, but events in Atlantic City distract his attention. However, he wields his influence at the RNC, where he asks an old acquaintance to help him with the crisis in Atlantic City. Elsewhere in Boardwalk Empire 1.08 , Arnold Rothstein prepares for his testimony in the Black Sox Scandal; Van Alden bristles at his wife’s request for an unorthodox procedure; and Gillian urges Angela to get a job. We are reviewing all the cancelled shows and renewed shows of the season.
And despite this season, new shows are falling like crazy. NBC already cancelled Outlaw, ABC Family cancelled Huge, Fox cancelled Lone Star, ABC cancelled My Generation, and also cancelled The Whole Truth, and MTV cancelled The City in its second season. HBO is doing things right and renews Eastbound & Down for season three.
I already told you ten reasons to watch Eastbound & Down, and now you have one more reason, since HBO renews Eastbound & Down, giving it more time to keep developing a great show.
This decision should not have been very difficult, since Eastbound & Down’s second season premiere audience was bigger than series premiere by a 150%, at 1.4 million, making HBO easy to give the show a vote of confidence, and adding to the renewal or Bored to Death, and the renewal of Boardwalk Empire, its entire Sunday lineup is safe.

Ok, so, Eastbound & Down is a great show, and many of you already know it, and Eastbound and Down premieres Sunday September 26th on HBO, as our TV Comeback Calendar tells.
The show is starting its sophomore season, and you should not miss the first season of Eastbound & Down (Or catch up if you missed it), but you may be wondering… why is this guy from Series & TV saying that Eastbound & Down is a worth watching this fall?
Well, that´s why I´ve compiled the top ten reasons why you should watch Eastbound & Down this fall.
Danny McBride and John Hawkes are just too damn everything of what´s good on TV.
Years after he turned his back on his hometown, a burned-out major league ballplayer returns to teach phys ed at his old middle school. Classic!
Will Ferrell and Craig Robinson among others who enrichened the show beyond the regular cast.
Folks at HBO did a great job in promoting the show, and when you watch the trailers for Eastbound & Down, you´ll know what I mean.
All three of them, Danny McBride, Ben Best and Jody Hill are newcomers, but sure as hell talented.
Both Ben Best and Jody Hill are Superbad Alumni, and that can only mean something good.
Hometown, little town… taht gives it a lot of creative room for the writers. And they surely take advantage of it.
Such as this quote from Eastbound & Down: Ashley Schaeffer: I had a dream about this moment… When I was making love… to my wife Donna. On top a her; powerful thrusts, filling the sultry night air. Heavy breath. My son Gabriel walked in, little boy. My wife sprung out of bed and said “No, Gabriel! Leave!” And I said “No, honey, shut your mouth, let him watch.” Let him watch what is being consecrated here. And I want the people to watch what is going to be consecrated here. And I will bring my son down here, and he will watch.
HBO has given us Six Feet Under and The Sopranos. Probably two of the best top ten series from last decade and even two of the best series ever. And they keep delivering, with shows like Entourage, Bored to Death, Boardwalk Empire, and, of course Eastbound & Down.
Ok, maybe this is not a big reason, but here at Series & TV we´re keen on Title Ampersands.

Folks at HBO just launched a new app at the Eastbound & Down Facebook Page.
In this case, they launched new video mashup tool on the Eastbound & Down Facebook page. As they told me, and I had the chance to check it out, It’s pretty awesome..and allows users to access clips, music and graphics to create their own mash-up videos paying tribute to Kenny Powers. As part of the app, HBO is running “the Kenny Powers video tribute challenge” hosted by Stevie Janowski. The 10 highest rated videos will receive prizes including an “Eastbound” gift pack and Toshiba camcorder, and of those finalists, Stevie will select a grand prize winner who will also receive a 55” Vizio flat screen TV!
