Who is the Host of Project Runway All Stars?

Project-runway-all-star-host-judges-mentorAngela Lindvall grew up in a small, rural community outside of Kansas City, Missouri, and fell into
modeling by accident when her older sister who initially convinced Angela to sign up for a local fashion
show with her for fun.  Angela has since appeared on the cover of many major publications, including all
the international Vogues, Elle, Harper’s Bazaar, ID, Dazed and Confused and many more.

Lindvall’s “chameleon” like qualities has made her one of the most sought after models and one of the few to work with nearly every major fashion house including the likes of Prada, Chanel, Valentino, Gucci, Louie Vuitton, DKNY, Calvin Klein, Jil Sander, Chloe, Stella McCartney, and Versace to name a few.  She continues to be one of the most sought after models in an otherwise fickle industry.  Lindvall has also appeared on the big screen in the films CQ and Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang.  On television, she co-hosted Alter Ecco, with Adrian Grenier on which was one of Discovery’s Planet Green Channel.

Georgina Chapman: born in 1976 in London, England, is a fashion designer and former actress & model.  She, along with close friend and fellow Brit Keren Craig, co-founded MARCHESA in 2004.  Chapman currently serves as the brand’s Designer and Creative Director, producing two seasonal collections, two bridal collections, and two pre-collections per year.
Chapman attended the Chelsea College of Art & Design in London, where she met Craig, with a focus in Design. Following her time there, Chapman enrolled at the Wimbledon College of Art for Costume and Design, where she perfected her skills as a costume designer. She spent much of her free time while in school and in her twenties modeling for Next Models in the UK, Europe and the US, which led to film credits such as Awake, The Nanny Diaries, Factory Girl and Match Point, as well as an appearance in the Fall 2008 Gap advertising campaign.
After graduating from Wimbledon College of Art in 2001, she embarked upon her career as a costume designer.  Industry veteran and muse, the late Isabella Blow, is largely credited with discovering Chapman at this time, when she noticed a dress the designer had created and worn to an event in the UK.  It was Blow, with her conviction for Chapman’s talent in eveningwear, who
encouraged her to create a label focused on this niche enterprise, and thus, in 2004, MARCHESA was born.

Martha Stewart Show with Michael Kors Recap

martha-stewart-michael-kors-interview-quotes-showDid you watch today´s Martha Stewart Show?

Project Runway judge and renowned fashion designer, Michael Kors came prepared for today’s edition of THE MARTHA STEWART SHOW (Hallmark Channel, 10 AM ET/9 AM C – same day encore airing, 2 PM ET/next day airing, 1 PM ET).  On the special ‘Thanksgiving Dessert Show’ Michael channeled his glamorous Grandma Bea, described as “Very Martha,” by passing along her Pineapple Upside Down Cake recipe.  Martha called Michael out for having to brush up on his baking skills before the taping, but as Michael explained “I had to be Martha ready…but ended up having my own Lucille Ball moment, with sugar flying everywhere, it was crazy!”  During the show, Michael gave a sneak peek of his luxurious 2011 Resort line, along with some of the photos from his trip out West that inspired them.  Martha could not believe Michael’s fashion faux pas while riding a horse, “But you have sneakers on?! You don’t even have riding boots? You’re supposed to be a fashion icon!”

Martha Stewart and Michael Kors´ Best Quotes of the Day

On Michael Kors’ Grandma Bea:

Martha Stewart:  You’re going to make Grandma Bea’s Pineapple Upside Down Cake.  Now Grandma Bea, I saw this picture of her…How elegant is she?
Michael Kors:  She was a glamorous Grandma.  She was a glamour Bea.
MS:  Was she like an Auntie Mame kind of type?
MK:  First off, she was a junior-high school principal, but at the same time she was a fashionista.  She was a real juggler.  She was very Martha.  And she was a great cook!

On Michael’s Lucille Ball Moment:

MS:  Now you were practicing this yesterday I heard.
MK:  I practiced, yes.  I wanted to make sure that I was going to be Martha-ready.  Unfortunately, I had an I Love Lucy moment.
MS:  Can you imagine Michael Kors, one of our top, top, top designers practicing for our show?
MK: Yeah, and I had more of a Lucille Ball moment.  Sugar flying everywhere, it was crazy.

On Michael’s fashion faux pas:

MS:  A little later on, we are going to get a very special preview of the resort collection, all inspired by a trip you took.
MK:  Yeah, an amazing trip I took out West.  And I’m the last person you’d imagine on a horse.  I think we might have a picture.  I’m an urban kind of boy but…
MS:  Oh, there you are.  Look!  But you have sneakers on.  You don’t even have riding boots?
MK:  I know!  I didn’t realize I was riding until I got there.
MS: You’re supposed to be a fashion icon!
MK:  I know.  Well you know, fashion icon in sneakers.  What can I tell you?

Michael on his inspiration for the 2011 Resort line:

MS:  Let’s take a look at some of your beautiful designs.  What inspired you?
MK: We were talking before, I took a trip out west to a gorgeous hotel called the Amangiri.  And we started thinking about how do you do sustainable things that are still luxurious.  This is all organic cashmere.  And I love this time of year to wear a cozy cardigan like that.  And you know what?  It’s easy to pack, comfortable and sexy, all at the same time.

Michael on his must-have pieces for Fall:

MS:  And what is the one piece of clothing that we all have to have this fall?
MK:  Well you know, I think it’s definitely two things.  I can never say one.  One piece of clothing:  A camel coat for sure, it’s the season for camel.  And a great saddle or luggage colored handbag.  I like something that’s a little uptown, a little downtown.  You know like Grace Kelly goes rock and roll.  That’s really what it’s all about.

What did you think about Michael Kors one on one on Martha Stewart Show? Let me know in the comments section. I would´ve asked him about why they picked Gretchen over Mondo

Complete Recap, Quotes and Spoilers of Project Runway S07E01 – Back To New York

Welcome to another season of “Project Runway.” We’re back in New York this season, which Portland gal Janeane is “dorking out” over just a little bit. She is so overwhelmed that she begins to cry. Winning would “change my life,” she says. American-trained physical therapist and Italian-trained designer Ping, meanwhile, knows how a body moves and functions. Then there’s Anthony from Alabama, who explains that “It is hell being black and gay in the ghetto.” He just wants to design gowns for Miss USA. Don’t we all. Jay from San Fran, meanwhile, likes “dramatic” clothing and has no interest in being a millionaire. Pamela, 47, gets big hugs from the other ladies in the suite. She has her own small design business and warns that she is “type A.” Jonathan from Rhode Island announces that he is on a quest to find that place “between gritty and pretty.” Good luck, good sir. Jesse of Orlando, in the meantime, recently worked as Capt. Jack Sparrow at Disney World, along with teaching himself how to design. Mila has been a costume designer for TV and film for the past decade, but is “so ready to show the world what I can do.” Maya, inspired by punk rock, could pass for Mila’s little sister. Amy likes innovating and “being different,” which is pretty much what everyone else said, too.

The entire gang then heads to the roof, where a certain model/host awaits. “Hi everybody!” Heidi squeaks. Standing next to the blonde is none other than Tim, who is quite excited about this season’s batch of competitors. One champagne toast and sunrise later, the group arrives in Central Park to find fabrics draped EVERYWHERE. “We get to design our own thing that represents us,” Mila says. But they only have three minutes to gather the fabric! “We were like fat people at an open buffet in Vegas,” Emilio quips. But there’s more! Of all the fabrics collected, each contest can only take back five to the work room. Ping struggles to unfurl her fabric, earning the not-so-clever nickname “Ping Pong” from Anthony. Then the hard work begins. “The winner of this challenge will have immunity,” Tim explains before dramatically exiting. Emilio is going for “color, style and fit” in a little dress. Ping wants something that looks great on a human body, as opposed to a non-human one, we guess. Few are even halfway through their outfits when the models enter. Later in the evening, however, the looks are beginning to come together. Tim urges Christiane to finish her outfit “impeccably” and “with confidence.” He then wonders if Seth’s zipper-happy dress is too “cartoonish.” Janeane’s little black dress is made of a fabric that “shows everything,” according to Tim. He urges her to be careful, which prompts Janeane to start crying — again. Meanwhile, Ping bounces around the work area wearing her own creation. Maybe Anthony wasn’t so far off, after all. Speaking of Anthony, his floral print dress isn’t working for Tim. The mentor then worries that Emilio’s top, though well constructed, is still unfinished. “Some of you might have to recalibrate your ambitions according to the time frame,” Tim tells the group. The contestants then sew, drape, cut, etc. into the night. Before we leave the work room for the evening, Janeane cries one more time about having to start over. It’s officially a trend.

The next morning, the designers are in panic mode and not just Janeane. “I have not even put my garment on my model yet,” Emilio tells the camera. Yet despite all the work and worry, the contestants still find time to critique each other — a “Project Runway” tradition as tried and true as Heidi’s cache of catch phrases. To wit: Mila thinks Christiane’s lack of construction skills might hurt her. “Pings outfit is very Ping,” according to Jonathan. “Ping may go home.” Tim sends in the model for hair and makeup. Miraculously, many of the designers are quite pleased with their creations after seeing them on the models. Even Janeane manages to find a sliver of hope.

Time for the runway show! “As you know in fashion, one day you’re in, and the next day you’re out,” Heidi says. She then introduces the judges: Michael, Nina and TV personality Nicole Richie. Wait — did you forget something, Heidi? Oh yes. Says the host: “One of you will be named the winner and one of you will be out.” The show begins and the designers LOVE their creations! Jonathan practically runs out of adjectives to describe his “smart, unique, thoughtful” dress. Seth has no doubt that the judges will look at his zipper-crazy concoction and “totally get what I’m about.” Jay feels his dress is a “signature” look. Pamela adores the blazing pink color and youthful appearance of her dress-and-top combo. Even Janeane finds her outfit to be “lovely.”

Judgment time. Heidi calls out the following names: Amy, Anna, Ben, Janeane, Jay, Jesse, Jonathan, Maya, Mila and Pamela. “If I have called your name, congratulations, your scores have qualified you to move onto the next round,” Heidi explains. The remaining contestants, meanwhile, have the highest and lowest scores. First up is Anthony, who describes his look as “functional, fun and feminine.” “I think it looks like you glued a few different dresses together,” Michael snips. Nina agrees, noting the conflicting nature of the fabric and silhouette. Seth’s zipper look works for Nicole. Heidi thinks it’s “fun.” Michael thinks “a lot of young girls would love to own that dress.” Ping explains that her draped look changes shape according to the movement of the wearer. “It’s definitely something that I would wear,” Nicole says. Nina, on the other hand, thinks the model looks slightly uncomfortable. Jesus is next. Michael, in his typically understated fashion, declares: “It’s like a huge crocodile trunk exploded on an evening gown.” Yikes. Christiane’s look underwhelms all the judges, though Michael doesn’t mind the draped top. Emilio’s four-layer look is praised by Michael for being “deceptively simple.”

One judges confab later, Heidi explains that “one of you will be named the winner and one of you will be out.” Now that we all understand the rules, Heidi tells Ping that she is safe. She then declares Emilio the winner! “I think winning the first challenge throws down the gauntlet to the other designers,” he tells the camera. “But I think it also puts a target on my back.” Seth is safe, as is Anthony. That leaves Christiane and Jesus. After insulting both nervous contestants, Heidi sends Christiane home. “I did not think my dress was the worst outfit,” the contestant says. “Being eliminated doesn’t mean anything at all in terms of who I am or what I’m going to do.”

Complete Recap and Spoilers of Project Runway S06E05 – Fashion Headliners

Welcome back to “Project Runway.” Let’s begin with some reactions to last week. “Being in the bottom three is probably the most empty feeling I’ve ever felt,” says former drug addict Johnny. Irina, meanwhile, can not believe that Althea won the last challenge. “I’ll be the first one to congratulate anyone that wins if I feel like it was well earned and that wasn’t, she says.” Meeee-owww! Speaking of meow, Nicolas tells the camera that Johnny and Irina should be the next to go. Off to the runway!

“Allo!” squeaks Heidi. “This challenge will definitely be tough, but the answers will all be in black and white.” The designers then head out for a field trip with Tim. They go to the Los Angeles Times, where they meet fashion critic Booth Moore. “For the next challenge, you’re going to bring this down to a practical level and you’re going to use pages from a newspaper to create your next look,” Moore explains. Nicolas is less than thrilled. “I’m speechless,” he tells the camera. So instead of a trip to Mood, they contestants have three minutes to grab as many papers as they can. Ra’mon, in the meantime, is excited as he already has “a point of view.” Says Tim: “Make it work!” Back at the Institute, the designers get to drawing and sketching. Althea is glad she has immunity because she has never worked with newspaper before. “I don’t know what to do,” she says with a laugh. Nicolas doesn’t have immunity, but shares Althea’s trepidation. “I have no clue what I’m doing,” he says. Cocky Irina, on the other hand, remains cocky. Shirin, meanwhile, annoys everyone by talking incessantly.

Tim enters for a little mentoring action. He finds Gordana’s design “stunning.” Althea’s shoulder pad and drape look, on the other hand, “disappoints.” Irina shows off her ditched short dress idea and explains that she is now heading toward a trench-coat look. Tim appears skeptical, but tells her to get started on attempt number two. Johnny’s origami look, meanwhile, looks like a “craft project gone array.” Everyone gets a chuckle. Johnny decides to start over. He crumbles up his dress and throws it away. Yikes. Christopher, meanwhile, is going for a showstopper of a dress made of paper feathers. Tim LOVES the potential. He then takes his leave, urging the designers to buckle down. The models enter — most of them squealing like little Heidis. Johnny doesn’t have anything to put on his model, unfortunately. He blames a steamer that none of the other contestants can remember as actually existing. Johnny is so distraught that starts doing a crossword puzzle. “Most of the designers are really sick of the Johnny attitude,” Christopher tells the camera. Then it’s time for bed.

The next morning, the boys wake up and continue to poke fun at Johnny, calling him the “comic relief.” Back at the Institute, Tim enters. “Some of you look like youre kind of stalling out,” he says. “Don’t let that happen. Rally!” No need when it comes to Gordana, who loves her creation. Althea and Ramon, meanwhile, whisper about Irina’s trench coat. Cocky Irina notices — and remains cocky. “If I go home on an arts-and-crafts project, I’m not going to be happy,” Johnny tells his model before calling Nicolas’ creation “dinosaur chic.” Finally, the contestants run out of time to be catty and must head to the runway where that will become the judges’ jobs.

Cut to the runway, where a familiar face recites a familiar phrase: “As you know in fashion, one day you’re in and the next day you’re out.” We then meet the judges: Tommy Hilfiger, Zoe Glassner and Eva Longoria Parker. But wait — what are the rules, Heidi!? “One of you will be named the winner and one of you will be out,” she explains. Thank you, ma’am. Runway time! The models come out strutting their stuff. Not surprisingly, most of the designers LOVE their creations. “It looks absolutely amazing,” Ra’mon says. Irina’s talent leaves her “breathless.” Johnny, on the other hand, thinks his theoretically-ruined-by-a-steamer look would’ve been better. Heidi calls out names: Johnny, Nicholas, Christopher, Althea, Gordana, Irina. “If I did NOT call your name, congratulations,” she says, explaining that the unnamed designers are safe. Now time for some good ol’ fashioned judging. Zoe likes Gordana’s safe look, but Heidi finds it “boring.” Irina’s design leaves Eva breathless. Zoe calls the trench-coat-with-paper-fur look “something new.”

Johnny is next. Heidi says it doesn’t look like the designer spent much time on his project. The designer then launches into the phantom steamer story. Nicolas can’t keep his mouth shut, telling the judges that Johnny’s original design was equally as terrible. “Thanks Nicholas,” Johnny says. “Throw me right under the bus.” Awkward! Now it is Nicolas’ time to be judged. His punk-rock creation looks more like an “insect,” according to Zoe. Hilfiger is equally confused. Christopher’s elaborate bodice and dress, on the other hand, “really looks like art,” Zoe says. ” After a judges confab, Heidi announces the winner: Irina. She is sooo very pleased with herself. “I finally won,” she tells the camera. “It’s past due, I feel like.” Heidi then tells Althea, Chrisopher and Gordana to leave the runway. They are safe. Only Nicolas and Johnny remain. “One of you will be out,” Heidi explains. Nicolas’ dress was “arts and craftsy.” Johnny’s look was “a mess overall.” So who is staying and who is going? Nicolas is … in, meaning Johnny is GONE. “Right now I feel a little lost,” he says through tears. Backstage, Tim waits for Johnny to leave and the announces to the group that he can’t believe the steamer story. Everyone has a good laugh at the losing contestant’s expense. Nice group.

Complete Recap and Spoilers of Project Runway S05E02 – We Expect Fashion

Welcome back to L.A. “This is Project Runway!” Heidi squeaks. We know, Heidi. We know. Annnnnnnywaaaaay, Logan walks around the apartment half naked while the other boys congratulate themselves on still being here. Mitchell, especially, knows he dodged a bullet. “I’m ready to rekindle my dream,” he declares.

The contestants gather at the runway. “Allo!” Heidi squeaks. “Now you will create a look for an actual celebrity … she is a mommy to be.” Why, it’s none other than Rebecca Romijn! Poor Rebecca is preggers with twins and she needs something fashionable that she can wear around town. “She wants this look to be form fitting,” Tim explains. Back at the fashion lab, the designing starts. “I never really had a lot of pregnant woman in my life — that’s not really my deal,” Logan explains. Gordana, on the other hand, might have a slight advantage as she has been pregnant twice.

The group heads out to shop — and furiously so. Qristyl is especially frantic. “Deep breathes,” Tim urges. Back at work, the contestants drape their newly bought cloth over mannequins with big, fake bellies. “My concept is that I want to use ribbon and create a bodice,” Althea says. Louise is creating a 1920s “negligee-inspired cocktail dress.” “It’s something that I’m known for,” she explains. Ramon, meanwhile, is struggling to find inspiration. Malvin is making an “egg” design, while Mitchell has opted to play it “safe.”

The next morning, the contestants get back to work. Moments later, Tim arrives. He calls Althea’s “luncheon” outfit a flat-out evening creation. Louise is worried that her dress is too “nightgowny” — and Tim agrees. Mitchell shows Tim his little pair of shorts and sweater. Tim more or less shrugs. It IS safe. Tim loves Irina’s jacket idea, but it “has to be the right jacket.” Thanks, Tim. Malvin shows off his egg, which apparently will show Rebecca’s “chicken thighs.” Tim signs deeply. “You just need to mindful of not going into costume land,” he warns. Good advice from the Timster.

The models come rushing in and put on the fake bellies. They all crack jokes about being pregnant — as if the thought is so foreign that it is literally laughable. Carol’s model has a two-year old, though, and becomes “really excited” about the dress. Carol takes this as a good sign. Ramon continues to freak out over his dress, which Mitchell says resembles a “bowling ball.” Unfortunately, Mitchell isn’t far off.

Ra’mon takes a look around the room and decides his creation might just be the most daring. “Oh, hot messes!” he tells the camera. “Am I really the front runner because no one else is taking a risk?” Maybe — but we’re no Michael or Nina. Mitchell, in the meantime, puts his shorts on his model and notes that they look “messy.” Malvin starts to wonder why all the designs in the room are so similar and if perhaps the contestants haven’t quite found their voice yet. “They haven’t cracked the egg, so to speak,” he jokes. That’s SO Malvin!

Later, the would-be designers head to the runway to be judged. Someone backstage switches on Heidi, winds her up and sends her out. “As you know in fashion, one day you’re in and the next day you’re out,” she recites. Heidi then introduces the judges: Rebecca, Nina and, filling in for Michael, Monique. The show begins and a parade of faux-pregnant models strut their stuff. Of course, most of the contestants LOVE their own creations — with the exception of Nicolas, who notices his tight, black dress is riding up on the model (showing off her “chicken thighs,” perhaps?).

Will the judges love the designs as much as the designers do? Doubtful. Heidi calls out the following names: Louise, Mitchell, Althea, Malvin, Ramon and Shirin. They represent the highest and lowest scores. Everyone else leaves the runway — safe for another week. Monique finds Ra’mon’s dress “sloppy” and “messy.” Nina thinks it looks like it has racing stripes pointing at the belly. Ra’mon is a “frontrunner” no more.

Next, Louise defends her pleated nighty thingy. Rebecca thinks it looks like lingerie, but she likes it. “Good job,” Nina says. Rebecca, in the meantime, loves Althea’s elegant evening gown. Monique thinks the bust is a little exposed, but calls the rest of the creation “perfect.” Malvin then tries to explain his “mother hen” look, which really just looks like a burlap sack wrapped around a black dress. “Do you really want to look like a chicken that has the egg?” Heidi asks. Not really. Heidi notices that Mitchell’s shorts are a hot mess all their own. “She is a mess!” Nina says. Ouch. Shirin explains that she went for comfort. Rebecca really likes the waistband. Nina really likes the angles. “I’m impressed,” Heidi says. Good for you, Shirin!

So who is the best of the best and the worst of the worst? “One of you will be named the winner and one of you will be out,” Heidi explains. Now that Heidi has explained the rules, we get to the announcing. Rebecca announces that Shirin is the big winner. “Anyone of us would wear it — pregnant or not,” Rebecca says. But who is leaving? It comes down to Mitchell and Malvin. “Malvin you’re out,” Heidi says. “Mitchell, you just squeaked by. You have to up your game.”

Malvin takes the long walk down the runway. “I’m too conceptual for America,” he tells the group. That’s SO Malvin!

Complete Recap and Spoilers of Project Runway S06E01 Season Premiere

Welcome to a new (and improved?) season of ‘Project Runway,’ featuring Heidi, Tim and a cast of aspiring designers you’ll likely come to adore and/or despise.

We first meet Ra’mon, a former neurosurgery student who decided to give up doctoring to pursue a career in fashion. Next is Logan, who claims to be “a guy’s guy, I guess.” We guess. Johnny, meanwhile, is former meth addict. “It was probably the darkest time in my life,” he tells the camera. Probably? Our first lady is Gordana, who originally hails from Yugoslavia. Carol and Qristyl are next — the latter describing her clothes as “plus sexy” instead of plus size. You go girl. Nicholas “the feather prince” Putvinski hopes to make it to the final three, if no win the whole darn thing. Christopher is the relative odd man out as he hails from Minnesota. Althea, a blonde from Dayton, also represents the Midwest. And so on and so forth. Sixteen players in all.

The designers head to the roof where Heidi and Tim await. “The 16 of you have proven that you have the talent and passion to be standing here,” Tim says. He then explains that the group will be working out of the FIDM, the “leading fashion institution of this city.” This city being Los Angeles, by the way (sorry New York!). Time for a champagne toast. “Project Runway!” Heidi squeals. Somehow, the glasses do not shatter.

The next morning, Tim welcomes the contestants to the red carpet outside the Emmy Awards. Seeing said carpet makes the whole thing “real,” according to Irina. The first challenge: design a red-carpet dress for a pre-assigned model. First comes the sketching. “What if we don’t sketch?” Ari asks. She prefers to “meditate” on the design. Second is shopping for material, which Ari thankfully does. Third is execution, which will continue until the midnight deadline. The cutting, sewing and smocking begins. “I feel like I’m completely lost and this has never happened to me before,” Johnny whines. He tells the camera that he already wants to “throw in towel” — before the very first commercial break, mind you.

When we come back from that break, Johnny is doing no better. In fact, he is sitting on a couch outside the work area, hugging a pillow and crying. Tim arrives to help. “Are you being too hard on you?” he asks. Answers Johnny: “I just don’t want to fail again … I feel emotionally obliterated.” They hug it out and Johnny suddenly becomes a new man. He charges back into the work room and starts designing. “Tim’s a God,” Johnny tells his fellow competitors. None disagree. Midnight hits. Time for bed.

The next morning, Christopher points out that he doesn’t have the education to “pleat or make a bustle.” The Minnesota native has had to learn everything for himself. Tim enters the workroom and eyes Christopher’s creation. “Not styled correctly, this could go cruise-line cocktail waitress,” Tim warns. He then moves onto Ari, who is making a halter dress with a hood. Tim wonders whether it will look like a “halter diaper.” One can only hope. Tim makes a few more witty comments and then sends in the models. Once again, the contestants have until midnight to finish. But will that be enough time?

One excruciatingly long commercial break later, the men and women arrive at the work room and Mitchell discovers that his model is “five inches” bigger than she was yesterday. In other words, he has to all but start over. “He’s basically sending a nude model down the runway,” Johnny says of Mitchell’s sheer dress. Hair and makeup later, Tim gives the ol’ 10-minute warning. The designers scramble to finish and JUST make the deadline. The whole gang then heads to the runway, where Heidi appears and delivers the line that we’ve waited so very long to hear squeaked out once again: “As you know in fashion, one day you’re in and the next day, you’re out.” So true, Heidi so very, very true. She then introduces the Sweet 16 to judges Michael and Nina. Now, America, are you sitting down? Good — because the guest judge is none other than Lindsay Lohan! “Actress, singer and designer of her own line,” Heidi explains. Let the show begin!

Not surprisingly, all of the contestants seem to love their own creations. Or almost all. “The minute she turns around is when things get a little bit iffy,” Mitchell admits. To illustrate the point, we get a good shot of Nina squinting at the glorfied nighty. Christopher, in the meantime, is so overwhelmed by his design that he begins to cry. Incredibly, the judges remain dry eyed. The show ends and Heidi asks the following contestants to step forward: Shirin, Epperson, Gordana, Carol, Logan, Althea, Nicolas, Irina, Malvin and Louise. “Congratulations — your scores have qualified you to move onto the next round,” Heidi says. Those remaining have the three highest and three lowest scores. Qristyl explains that her dress was designed for someone like Miley Cyrus or Lindsay Lohan to wear to the Emmys. The judges like the back of the dress, but that’s about it. “The front is a mess,” Heidi says. Michael calls the creation “schizophrenic.” Christopher says his model is going to the VMAs. Heidi calls it is “hip and young,” while Michael considers it “edgy.”

Ra’mon’s Oscar gown is a bit hit all around, earning adjectives such as “respectable” and “chic.” Ari explains that her oddball ensemble is for the VMAs in “like, 2080.” “She looks like a disco soccer ball,” Michael says of Ari’s model. Huh? “It’s out there,” Nina explains. “But I appreciate the fact that you have a very conceptual process for design.” Johnny, in the meantime, was going for a movie premiere in the 1920s. Lindsay finds the low back “very sexy,” although she doesn’t love the blazing red color. The judges acknowledge that Mitchell’s dress has been thrown together — more a “cool nightgown” than a red-carpet dress, according to Michael. So who stays and who goes?

Johnny is in. Christopher is not only in, but he is also the winner of the challenge. He immediately begins crying — again. Ramon is in, as is Qristyl. That leaves Ari and Mitchell. “One of you will be out,” Heidi explains. Thanks, Heidi. “Mitchell … you’re in,” Heidi says. But wait, Heidi, what does that mean for Ari!? “That means, Ari, you’re out,” our intrepid host states. Sad hugs all around. “Taking risks can be a good thing, but you have to take risks responsibly,” Ari tells the camera.

Until next week, America.

What is Project Runway About? – Plot

Project Runway is an American reality television series on Lifetime Television, previously on the Bravo network, which focuses on fashion design and is hosted by model Heidi Klum. The contestants compete with each other to create the best clothes and are usually restricted in time, materials, and theme. Their designs are judged and one or more designers are eliminated each week.

On April 7, 2008, the show’s producers, Weinstein Company, announced a five-year deal that would relocate the show to Lifetime Television, beginning with Season 6. In response, NBC Universal filed a lawsuit against the Weinstein Company for violating its contract rights. A September 2008 court decision granted NBCU’s request for an injunction, preventing Lifetime from promoting or exhibiting “Runway” until further notice.

On April 1, 2009, the lawsuit between Weinstein Co. and NBC Universal was settled, with Weinstein agreeing to pay NBC an undisclosed sum for the right to move the show to Lifetime. The already-filmed Season 6 will air on Lifetime beginning August 20, 2009.
