Today, the grim reaper´s been all over adding shows to the list of cancelled shows of 2012 and only one to the list of renewed shows of 2012. Let´s review another one, as ABC cancelled Last Resort. The bad news are not extreme, as ABC will air the full order of thirteen episodes of Last Resort as scheduled, instead of pulling it off, and only then not moving forward with any new episodes.
The show is averaging 7.3 million viewers, and 1.7 in the adult key demo of 18-49, but this Thursday´s episode was the lowest rated with only 5.8 total and 1.3 demo.
We had the chance to interview Andre Braugher earlier this season, to discuss the show, but it´s ending up being short lived, the same as the last three Shawn Ryan´s shows: Terriers, The Chicago Code and Last Resort, cancelled in its freshman seasons, albeit being quite good.
What´s Last Resort about? Plot Synopsis
Five hundred feet beneath the ocean’s surface, the crew of the Ohio-class ballistic missile submarine “Colorado” – the most powerful nuclear submarine ever built — receive their orders. Over a communications channel designed only to be used if the U.S. homeland has been wiped out, they’re told to fire nuclear weapons at a foreign country. This suspenseful, emotional, epic series with high stakes will evolve like a classic, action-packed drama.
Captain Marcus Chaplin (Andre Braugher) demands confirmation of the orders to fire, only to be unceremoniously relieved of duty. XO Sam Kendal (Scott Speedman) finds himself suddenly in charge of the submarine and facing the same difficult decision. When he also demands confirmation of the orders, the Colorado is fired upon and hit. The submarine and its crew, who are actually honorable patriots, now find themselves crippled on the ocean floor and declared rogue enemies of their own country. With nowhere left to turn, Chaplin and Kendal take the sub on the run and bring the men and women of the Colorado to an exotic but dangerous island. Here they will find refuge, romance and a chance at a new life, even as they try to clear their names and get back home.
Now, after being cancelled with yet some episodes to air, is Last Resort going to end with a cliffhanger, or will it give closure to its over 7 million viewers?

of course another great show being cancelled by abc. the network has so many good shows but they are the worst at cancelling them to soon. i don’t understand why they can’t give their shows a chance to find an audience. it could have become the next lost with lots of adventures, but they gave up to soon!!
I completely disagree with the lady above although she has a right to her opinion. The Last Resort was crap. The show was aimed at 18-49 year olds, most of this demographic are US Navy Submariners active duty who do this stuff for a living. Just like most military TV Shows/ Movies, this one was dedicated to depict the lives of US Submariners and show a story based on what they go through. What it actually did was piss off 95% of submariners in the US Navy because of the complete inaccuracy of the show. There were many petitions written by active duty Submariners to have this show cancelled or pulled off. I will give any show 3 episodes to catch me to see if it is worth watching, but I was completely turned off by the first episode that I watched. Not because of the acting or the cinematography, but the story itself, and the “crew” of the submarine. Show and script writers get these great ideas that look great on paper, but don’t actually think it would be a good idea to actually make. As a submariner, I am glad this show was pulled.
