On a heavy day of announcement landing on the cancelled shows of 2012 and renewed shows of 2012, HBO is joining the bunch. HBO renews Boardwalk Empire for season four, after three episodes of season three aired. Michale Lombardo, President of HBO Programming said, while announcing the pickup, “Terry Winter, Martin Scorsese and the rest of their outstanding team continue to produce a stunning show that never fails to surprise and entertain.”
Boardwalk Empire have been officially renewed for season four, while it´s paired show Treme has been unofficially renewed for a final season, but confirmation from the network is yet to come.
Boardwalk Empire´s third season premiere made an interesting number, reaching 7.2 million viewers on multiple platforms and telecasts, being that 1.4 million below last season´s average but still getting a good number from which to grow this season.
Boardwalk Empire is an American television series from cable network HBO, set in Atlantic City, New Jersey during the Prohibition era. It stars Steve Buscemi as Nucky Thompson and features a great ensemble cast.
