Update: In CW Upfronts it was confirmed that the order for Nikita renewal will be for a final six episodes limited run, making this fourth and last. Just to avoid saying that Nikita got cancelled and giving the chance to the show to wrap up and end on its terms.
You know that there have been some cancellations today, but with the news that CW renewed Nikita for season four, and the news that 24 may come back, all is good on television arena. The news comes mere hours after the youth-skewing network picked up four dramas to series, including sci-fi entries The 100, Star-Crossed (previously Oxygen), The Tomorrow People and departure Reign, the story of Mary Queen of Scots. Those four will join The Vampire Diaries’ spinoff The Originals on the CW’s 2013-14 schedule.
In this sexy and suspenseful series featuring international action star Maggie Q in the title role, the charming and deadly Nikita is trying to right the wrongs of Division, the agency that created her. Season two saw dramatic upheavals in the life of rogue superspy Nikita, as she continued her crusade against Division, the agency that took her from the streets and forced her to kill for the government. Nikita and Michael set out to bring down Division … only to discover that Alex, Nikita’s protégé, had joined Division in order to avenge her father’s death. When Nikita helped Alex achieve her vendetta, the trio is once again united, and a new, powerful team of heroes is formed. These include punk rock hacker Seymour Birkhoff, brilliant CIA analyst Ryan Fletcher and ex-Navy SEAL Sean Pierce. Together they manage to bring down Division and destroy its creator, Percy. But their work isn’t done, because Division agents are still out there, stationed around the globe — trained assassins without a master. And it falls to Nikita and her team to hunt those agents down, before they can wreak havoc in our world.
