We are reviewing all the cancelled shows and renewed shows of 2011. And the year came out in its first week already giving way to a couple renewals. Second week of the year, is full of renewals. CBS renews The Big Bang Theory for three more seasons. In this case, the same week after Pretty Little Liars renewal order for second season, Secret Life of the American Teenager renewal, Castle renewal, Grey´s Anatomy renewal, Private Practice renewal, Modern Family renewal, Cougar Town renewal and The Middle renewal.
The Big Bang Theory is the top-rated series on Thursdays Night (the most lucrative night of television). The series’ rising importance to CBS has factored into the big new license fee for the show, around $4 million per episode, more than quadrupling the comedy’s current license fee.
“It doesn’t take a theoretical physicist to see why this show is a BIG part of our comedy future,” said Nina Tassler, CBS Entertainment President . “From ratings to critical acclaim to pop culture buzz, it’s struck a chord on all levels. The creative genius of Chuck Lorre and Bill Prady and the on-camera talents of an amazing young ensemble have created a comedy that will entertain viewers for a long time. We’re proud to partner with Warner Bros. on another highly successful, long-running comedy.”
Meanwhile Peter Roth, Warner Bros Television President added: “We are delighted and grateful that CBS has once again rewarded THE BIG BANG THEORY with a multiyear renewal.”
As Nina Tassler puts it, it´s a no brainer move for a show averaging just shy of 14 million viewers per episode.

The flagship Hollywood motion picture film studios have in the past produced many entertaining movies based on nerd and geek characters. I had no problem with that, in fact I support good comedy. However, my gripe with The Big Bang Theory(CBS) was “Paris Hilton” impersonator Kaley Cuoco’s attitude and behaviour at the 2009 Comic Con. The stunt she pulled “Flirting with the fan” This was an attempt to give reassurance to her hardcore male fan base, that she had no interest in nerds or geeks. Kaley Cuoco cannot have her cake and eat it. It is obvious that she will feel more in her comfort zone working with the likes of Nick Carter, Al Santos or Russell Brand. I had been the shows biggest supporter up to that point. I was naive to have believed Bill Prady’s press statements that the premise of Big Bang Theory (CBS) was to celebrate nerds and not to mock them. It became apparent to me, that Prady’s statements were based on studio spin. It is common knowledge that when launching or promoting a brand, most public relation experts will advise you to be cautious not to contradict your brand, as you will leave yourself wide open to public scrutiny and ridicule. Chuck Lorre and Bill Prady the grand old dukes of spin. It will sooner or later become apparent to CBS, Warner Bros, and Chuck Lorre Productions that spin is only effective up to a certain point depending on who your target audiences are.
