Bar Karma season finale spoilers

The season finale of Current TV’s “Bar Karma” is this Friday, April 29 at 10PM ET.  In “A Man Walks Out of a Bar”, Doug returns to the luxury of his former life and is offered a deal with an unusual news organization.  Dayna tries to bring him back by revealing the truth about her past and why he was brought to Bar Karma in the first place.

“Bar Karma,” the first series to give viewers control of the show content before it hits air, was created by game creator  Will Wright (The Sims/Sim City) and Worldwide Biggies CEO Albie Hecht.  Set at a mystical watering hole at the edge of the universe, “Bar Karma”  stars William Sanderson (“True Blood,” “Lost,” “Deadwood”) as James, the 20,000 year-old bartender,  Matthew Humphreys (“Obsessed,” “Big Love,” “The Forgotten”) as bar owner Doug Jones, and Cassie Howarth (“Deranged High,” “Deathclock”) as the lone waitress, Dayna.  The series answers the age-old question: “What would happen if you could change your fate?”  Set in a time traveling bar owned and operated by members of the mysterious organization Karma, Inc., each weekly episode follows a new bar patron as they enter at happy hour and must make a life-changing…and possibly world-saving …decision.

Additionally, Current TV’s “Bar Karma” is on the hunt for a viewer with great creative ideas who will be offered a six month stint at the cable network.  The “Be a TV Programmer Challenge” recently launched and will run through April 29th.  The premise for the contest revolves around the use of the same Storymaker application utilized in the creation of “Bar Karma,” but instead of pitching Current TV execs about content for the series, viewers will be pitching themselves for the programming position.  Entrants can log onto www.Current.com/BeATVProgrammer and describe their first day on the job at Current TV.   Entries must include between five and fifteen scenes, one of which much feature the potential winner at work and another which explains why that entry should be chosen winner of the challenge.

Be a TV Programmer – Current TV Bar Karma launches contest

bar-karma-current-be-a-programmer-contestI already told you about Bar Karma, the new show on Current TV, I did the preview and spoilers of Bar Karma, and also told you about the Bar Karma Music Studio, but now Current TV’s “Bar Karma,” the world’s first community-developed television series, is on the hunt for a viewer with great creative ideas who will be offered a six month stint at the cable network.

The “Be a TV Programmer Challenge” launched this week, in time to usher in the premiere of the network’s highly anticipated series, Bar Karma (which debuts Friday at 10 PM ET/9 C).  The 12 episode series, the first to offer viewers a chance to control content before a program hits the air, was created by gaming icon Will Wright and is the network’s latest effort to create a new benchmark for viewer engagement.

“The launch of this challenge couldn’t be better timed,” noted David Cohn, Current TV’s Executive in Charge, Bar Karma.  “Our goal is to find a very talented individual whose passion, enthusiasm and outside the box thinking can help elevate our own way of looking at our programming model.  ‘Bar Karma’ is the perfect example of the kind of series we have always wanted to do – a show that celebrates storytelling while retaining their kind of edgy sensibility that you rarely see on television.” He added:  “We hope that whoever is chosen for this role will be willing to go there with us in the coming months.”

The premise for the contest revolves around the use of the same Storymaker application utilized in the creation of Bar Karma – but instead of pitching Current TV execs about content for the series, viewers will be pitching themselves for the programming position.  Through April 29th, entrants will be able to log onto www.Current.com/BeATVProgrammer and describe their first day on the job at Current TV.   Entries must include between five and fifteen scenes, one of which much feature the potential winner at work and another which explains why that entry should be chosen winner of the challenge.

Bar Karma music studio launched by Current TV

bar-karma-current-music-studioCurrent TV’s innovative “Bar Karma,” the world’s first community-developed TV show, is inviting musicians and fans alike to create and select music that will appear in future episodes of the series, beginning, February 3rd, with the launch of The “Bar Karma” Music Studio, presented by ZYNC from American Express® on Current TV’s “Bar Karma” site.

As part of this initiative, Indaba Music, the global music community, is powering a challenge that invites musicians who are part of the growing Indaba Music community to submit their original compositions for use in particular “Bar Karma” scenes.  The first of three such Indaba challenges is for the show’s fourth episode, in which a business woman enters the bar in a scene set in the not too distant future.  Musicians are being challenged to submit music that evokes the location she has just arrived from (steamy Brazil) and that also foreshadows a shocking and mysterious event. Voting for this particular challenge will begin on Friday, February 11 on the “Bar Karma” show page.  Indaba will give its community two additional opportunities to compose original works for the series in coming weeks.  Winning entries will be used in the show, plus their creators’ names will appear in the ending credits and in a billboard at the commercial break.

In addition, music fans will have the chance to visit the Music Studio, presented by ZYNC from American Express® to play music supervisor and select their favorites from lists of tracks put up for vote by the show’s producers in ten different polls.
