Canceled and Renewed Shows 2011: AMC renews Breaking Bad for final season five

breaking-bad-canceled-renewed-final-fifth-season-amcWe are all about the cancelled shows on 2011 and the renewed shows on 2011. And this one has a bittersweet flavour. AMC renews Breaking Bad for season five, and that will be the show´s last one.

The same week that USA renewed In Plain Sight for a fifth and final season, AMC renews Breaking Bad for a final fifth season, all in the midst of controversy with Breaking Bad´s negotiations, that even Sons of Anarchy´s creator gave a mouthful to AMC about giving too much away to the greed of Mad Men instead of taking good care of the network´s other signature shows.

And if we recall The Killing´s fans disappointing finale, Frank Darabont´s walkaway, Sons of Anarchy´s fire, and Mad Men´s long hiatus, adding this sort of renewal cancellation for Breaking Bad is not making for a brightier future for a network with such quality shows that any other network would die to get.

So, as a conclusion to this dragged out soap between AMC and Breaking Bad, renewal for a fifth and final season is somehow soemthing we could´ve expected, but not desired.

What do you think? Are you happy that AMC renews Breaking Bad for season five? Or are you sad because it surely looks like a cancellation for Beraking Bad in disguise? Let me know in the comments section.

Complete Recap and Spoilers of Breaking Bad Season Finale 02×13 ABQ

We open with our half-burned, one-eyed pink bear floating in the pool. We’re shown all of the previous black and while images bio-hazards suits, evidence containers, two body bags next to Walter’s car. The camera pulls back to the end of Walters block, goes to color and we see the home unharmed and two pillars of smoke off in the distance behind the residence.

Jesse tries furiously to revive Jane. He pounds on her chest over and over again before dissolving into tears.

Walter gets a call from Jesse while at home with Holly. He tries to calm Jesse down and tells him “I know who to call.”

A bald-headed man pulls up to Jesse’s apartment. The man (Mike) finds Jesse sitting on the front steps and tells him “Saul Goodman sent me.” Mike puts all of Jesse’s drugs and paraphernalia inside the bag with his cash. He has Jesse repeat over and over again what he is to tell investigators: “I woke up. I found her. That’s all I know.” Mike tells him to count down from 20 and call 911.

Walter Jr. calls his parents into his room to show them his website is paying off. 26 donations have come in from all over the country to the tune of about $500. Skyler is overjoyed but Walter seems nervous. Every time a donation is made the website makes a dinging noise.

Jane’s father Donald comes to Jane’s house and sees two paramedics taking a gurney out of their ambulance. Inside he watches Jane placed into a body bag. He answers a few questions about Jane and follows her body outside without acknowledging Jesse.

While more donations pour in Walter leaves a message for Jesse using his second cell phone.

At his office Hank passes around a collection jar for Walter. Stuck on top of the jar is a photo of Walter. Hank briefs the department that their blue meth has been popping up all over the southwest but is conspicuously not being sold in New Mexico. His suspicion is that Heisenberg is still working in Albuquerque but is shipping his product elsewhere.

Donations on Walter’s site have reached $2,800 and Walter seems bothered by the process. Walter gets a call from Saul that they have located someone.

Walter accompanies Mike to a seedy drug house. Walter goes in alone and finds Jesse in a drug-induced stupor. Walter tries to pick Jesse up he begins to sob. Walter holds Jesse as he tells him through tears: “I killed her . . . I loved her. I loved her more than anything.”

Donald speaks with someone (Jane’s mother?) on the phone while picking out a dress for Jane to wear at the funeral. He finds a blue one and lays it onto the bed.

We cut to Holly laid out on a bed in almost the same position as Jane’s dress as Walter changes her diaper. Walter Jr.’s site dings away and Walter asks him to turn off the volume on his computer. Skyler comes into Walter Jr.’s room and tells him Marie has arranged for a newspaper to do an article about the website.

Hank gets a visit from three businessmen who are underwriting one of the department’s fundraisers. One of the men is Gus. After Hank details what his office does, Gus notices the picture of Walter on the donation jar. He asks Hank if Walter is one of his agents. After Hank explains it is brother-in-law and that he is suffering from lung cancer, Gus places money in the jar.

Walter speaks with Jesse who is at a rehab facility. He explains that he won’t be able to come by for awhile because he about to have his lobectomy surgery. Jesse says he now knows what Walter meant in the desert when he said “I deserve this.”

Walter comes home to find TV cameras set up. Marie has gotten a station to do a piece on the family. The three sit on a couch with Holly. Walter Jr. goes on and on to the reporter about how wonderful his father is. Walter stares straight ahead looking absolutely miserable.

Skyler and Walter Jr. spend a few moments with Walter just before his surgery. A nurse gives Walter a mild sedative. A few seconds later Skyler asks whether Walter still has his cell phone. Walter mumbles “Which one?” and Skyler notices. Walter has the surgery.

Several weeks later Walter and Skyler sit with Delcavoli and Bravenec. Bravenec tells them the surgery went well and Walter has bought himself plenty of time. Skyler asks whether Walter is well enough to be on his own.

Donald has returned to his job. After he makes small talk with a co-worker we see that he works as an air traffic controller.

Back at home Skyler tells Walter she is taking Holly to Hank and Marie’s for the weekend. When she returns she wants Walter to be out of the house. She tells him that after the cell phone comment she contacted Gretchen to see if they were having an affair. After several calls Gretchen finally got back to her and told Skyler she never gave Walter any money for his treatment. Skyler contacted Delcavoli and found out Walter had paid about $100,000 in medical bills. She then tracked down Walter’s mother and found out she was completely unaware of her son’s illness. This is problematic because Walter had pretended to visit her for a long weekend. “Lies on top of lies,” she says. Walter follows her to the driveway and asks if she will stay if he tells her the truth. “Whatever it is, I’m afraid to know,” is her response before driving away.

Cut back to Donald who is sweating profusely while communicating with several planes. He accidentally uses the word ‘Jane’ during his instructions. We see on that screen that two planes are dangerously close to one another.

Cut back to Walter sitting outside by his pool. He hears a loud crash and looks up to see that two planes have collided in mid-air. The pink bear lands in the pool and the closing credits roll.

Complete Recap and Spoilers of Breaking Bad 02×11 – Mandala

Open with Combo, one of Jesse’s buddies/dealers, working a corner. Two men pull up and glare at him, only driving off when Combo shows them his gun. The men idle at a nearby corner as a little kid rides his bike in circles around Combo. Combo calls Skinny Pete looking for back-up when the kid shoots him several times. After watching Combo fall in the street the two men drive off.

Delcavoli and a new doctor, Bravenec, tell Walker and Skyler they think a lobectomy which will cost about $180,000 may now be possible for Walter. Bravenec says it has to be done before Walter’s cancer spreads. Given that Skyler is due in several weeks they schedule the surgery to take place in four weeks.

Walter calls Jesse and tells him Combo was killed. When Walter can’t remember which dealer Combo was Jesse hangs up on him. Skinny Pete tells Jesse the problem was their moving into other dealers’ turf. Pete says everyone now knows Jesse didn’t kill Spooge. With this new danger – and the fact hes on probation – Pete tells Jesse he can’t deal anymore.

Walter and Jesse meet with Saul and explain their distribution problems. When they tell him they have 38 pounds of meth ready to go he suggests connecting them with a major dealer of 20+ years who works exclusively in large volume, out-of-town sales. Saul doesnt know the low-profile dealer personally, but will make a few calls to get a meeting. Saul tells Walter that what he has heard about the man makes him sound “a little like you.”

After confessing to Jane that he is a dealer (she knew), Jesse asks her to leave the apartment so he can do some meth. She mentions him going going with her to an AA meeting but he walks down the hall to his room. She walks to the front door, pauses, and turns back around to follow Jesse.

Walter waits for Saul’s distributor at a burrito joint called Los Pollos Hermanos. He scans the room carefully. Jesse shows up late looking obviously high. They discuss the uncertain future of their business before the paranoid and irritated Jesse leaves.

During Skyler’s sonogram the doctor tells her fluids look a little low. Walter arrives late and the two agree to schedule a C-section for the following week. After the appointment Skyler tells Walter she has to go back to work for Ted’ birthday party.

Jesse arrives home and we see the apartment littered with empty beer bottles. He walks into the bedroom where Jane is sleeping. He suggests they go for a drive. She sits up and puts the meth pipe in her mouth.

At Ted’s party Skyler sings him the Marylyn Monroe version of Happy Birthday.

Walter calls Saul and says the guy never showed. Saul says his contact said the man was there but that they blew the meeting somehow. They had one shot and now it’s a no-go. “He’s very cautious about who he does business with,” Saul said. “He’s skittish, like a deer.” Walter asks him to call the man back but Saul says you only get one shot with this guy. Saul will check on another high-level dealer but doesn’t know of anyone else who can handle such high volume.

Walter goes back to Los Pollos Hermanos. He sits in the restaurant for most of the day, watching everybody. Near closing time Walter focuses in on the conservative-looking manager who had briefly checked on he and Jesse the day before. Walter goes to the counter and ask for a diet coke and “five minutes of your time.” The man initially pretends not to know what Walter is talking about, but eventually confesses that Jesse being late and high was the reason he did not meet with them. Walter emphasizes the quality of his product and tells him Jesse does what he says and is trustworthy. The man does not promise anything, saying only that he has Walter’s numbers.

Sklyer points out to Ted some accounting discrepancies she’s found with one of their clients. Eventually he admits that he has been cooking the books in an attempt to keep the company afloat. She says she won’t turn him but can’t be a part of breaking the law. She walks to the door and he says “I don’t want you to go.”

We see that Jesse didn’t make it to Combo’s funeral. Jane walks in and pulls out a bag. She begins to prepare a needle of heroin mixed with meth. She shoots him up and Jesse falls back on the bed in comatose ecstasy.

Syler pulls into the parking lot at work. While Ted watches through the window she sits in the car for several moments before finally getting out.

Walter gets a text that reads: “POLLOS.” He rushes to the restaurant where a female manger tells him the man he spoke with was Gus, who owns 14 Los Pollos locations in several states. She says there is no way to contact Gus. On his way out of the store a man steps in front of Walter and says “38 pounds, $1.2 million,” and gives him a truck stop location. He tells Walter if he can’t have the drugs there in one hour, “dont show your face in here again.” Walter speeds off in his car trying to get Jesse on the phone.

Sitting at her desk Skyler begins to have contractions.

Outside Jesse’s place Walter ignores a call from Skyler. Walter eventually has to break in the back door. He dumps water on the barely conscious Jesse and gets him to mumble that the drugs are under the kitchen sink. Walter finds a secret panel where Jesse has hidden the meth. As he loads the smaller bags into a garbage bag Walter gets a text from Skyler: “BABY COMING!!!” He says to himself “no, not now” and pauses for a few seconds. He then fills the bag and heads out Jesse’s front door.
