We are reviewing all the cancelled shows and renewed shows of the season.
This fall season, a lot of shows are falling like crazy. NBC already cancelled Outlaw, ABC Family cancelled Huge, Fox cancelled Lone Star, ABC cancelled My Generation, and also cancelled The Whole Truth, and MTV cancelled The City in its second season, and HBO cancelled Big Love at its fifth and NBC cancelled Undercovers, and Supernanny gets cancelled so Jo Frost can move on, and Disney cancelled Jonas LA, or the sad sad news about Rubicon getting cancelled, and the cancellation for Medium and Dark Blue, even Cartoon Network cancelled Unnatural History, a show that looked good.
Some are getting renewed, since HBO renews Eastbound & Down for season three, and also renews Bored to Death for season three and TLC renewed Sister Wives, and NBC renews Days of Our Lives and a double season renewal for 30 Rock, Fox renews The Simpsons where TruTV renewed Hardcore Pawns and TLC renewed Freaky Eaters. Meanwhile Syfy renewed Fact or Fake: Paranormal Files and also renewed Hollywood Treasure and Ghost Hunters International, while Disney XD renewed Pair of Kings.
And this time, perhaps the worst news of all… one of the best new shows, I mean Terriers, gets cancelled.
It was not a big surprise, but it was a big disappointment. We thought the show might get a pass and a second chance to thrive as it deserved due to its creativity.
Unfortunately, it didn´t. FX cancels Terriers after just one season. We cannot say it wasn´t expected, let´s remember Terriers ranked as the lowest rated first-year drama series on FX ever with an average of 970,000 viewers tuning in for the original telecasts, 509,000 of them in the adults 18-49 demographic, corresponding to a .49 demo rating.
The show was good, really good, but numbers just weren´t there. Hence Terriers got cancelled.
What do you think?
Are you sad Terriers is cancelled by Fx?
Let me know your thoughts in the comments section.
One of my readers, Commented this, and I´d like to highlight it
the first thing I did when I learned it was being cancelled was shoot an email to TNT to pick up the show. TNT focuses on drama’s… their tag line is “We Know Drama”, and they’ve picked up failed quality shows from other networks before such as “Southland”. Send an email at the following address: http://support.tnt.tv/ics/support/default.asp?deptID=5477. I also just started a thread on the TNT message boards as well… post there to ressurect Terriers! http://forums.tnt.tv/jive/tnt/thread.jspa?threadID=57675&tstart=0.
Also, remember to follow me on Twitter for more info on cancelled and renewed shows, such as this cancellation for Terriers.

Both my husband and I are devastated that Terriers has been cancelled. When LOST ended we wondered if we would ever find a show equally as compelling and we were hooked on Terriers right from the beginning. Why didn’t they spend more money advertising this show? The actors are so good and the chemistry works well with all of them.
Is there any chance this decision will be reversed? Give it a chance.
Both my husband and I were hooked on Terriers from the first episode. After LOST ended we wondered if we would ever find a show as compelling and were thrilled when Terriers turned out to be so wonderful. I wonder why they did not spend more money promoting this show or even the actors. They should have been on talk shows or E or something to let people know who they were. This is one of the best shows we have ever watched.
I hope the powers that be will reconsider and renew this fabulous program.
• I’ve not read all of the posts here to see if this has already been suggested, but the first thing I did when I learned it was being cancelled was shoot an email to TNT to pick up the show. TNT focuses on drama’s… their tag line is “We Know Drama”, and they’ve picked up failed quality shows from other networks before such as “Southland”. I really enjoyed this show even though I missed the first two episodes… Not paying close attention to the ads before the series started, I thought it was going to be a reality show about dog catching. Maybe they just did a poor job of advertising it. It needs a new home. Great, great show.
Wow..you have to be kidding…Loved Terriers…everyone please urge another network to pick up this excellent show..don’t give up on this show like FX…also please stop watching FX so great shows never end up on it in the first place.
I am heartbroken by the news Terriers has gotten cancelled. Great original show, fantasic characters and witty and intelligent writing. This show was the highlight of my week. I agree that we have to lobby for TNT to rescue it (as they did with Southland, another great program). Please send an Email to TNT and see if we can’t convince them to resurrect it if FX is foolish enought to let it go! Thanks!
My Dad and I loved to watch Terriers every week. This is a real disappointment to me and will be to him. We found this show right after his brother died and started watching it together and now we won’t have this tradition to continue.
Terriers was worth watching and it was phenomenal writing and acting. Donal was absolutely the best actor I have seen on TV in a long time. I hope TNT shows continued insight and will listen to a viewing audience that takes the time to appreciate the shows with depth. I cannot express to you my disappointment with how fast shows are being cancelled. I get familiar with strong characters and the chemistry of the show and then it is gone. The writing around living with mental illness coupled with intelligence and the family’s love for the individual was expertly executed by the cast. The struggle to stay sober, the sabotage of a good thing, the grey lines of motive with regards to protection/loyalty and love. Seriously—this show had what many others don’t even try to achieve– the complexity of humanity. For what it’s worth that is my opinion.
Had’t had a reason to watch FX before Terriers. Now, I kind of find it challenging to get invested in anything else on FX knowing they’ll likely kick it to the curb if it isn’t an immediate success. A great show on the wrong network.
The two week delay in airing the On-Demand episodes didn’t help garner viewers, either. The bigger (better?) networks have the show up the day after the initial airing. FX fumbled this from the beginning.
I, too, am totally devastated that FX cancelled Terriers. I absolutely love the show, the actors, the relationships between the characters…great writing, great acting…I’m so surprised it was so low rated. I know so many people who watch it and love it. Please – some other network has got to pick up this gem.
Do the producers remember that Dish took FX off their line-up for over a month? Those viewers have to count for something. This is like Sports Night all over again. Great television thrown away. To make matters worse, shows like Jersy Shore still pollute our airways. Terriers you will be missed. My whole family is very sad about the news:(
Terriers is a clever, witty, moving and well-acted show. In my opinion, one the best on TV. How is it that so many mediocre, trite shows thrive, while a gem like Terriers is gone in the blink of an eye? Shame
Loved Terriers – so sad
I am devastated the show was cancelled. I absolutely love it and it’s better than EVERYTHING that’s currently on TV.
Terriers was the best new show of 2010. I was really sorry to see it cancelled.
I hopped right on to the TNT taking on Terriers bandwagon, following all the links you provided! Thank you for giving me hope to carry on. What a great idea.
I also emailed TNT! Let’s keep our fingers crossed.
Utterly heartbroken that terriers, the best show on tv, got cancelled. Boooo.
I just e-mailed TNT. Hopefully it will do some good.
I want my Terriers! I don’t watch an abundance of television so I pick and choose a few series to follow and this one was one of them. I connected with the characters because they were real and things weren’t too over the top. The show actually got better as the season went on as with almost all new pilots. Obviously, that’s more than what most gave it. It may not have been your typical FX show as it wasn’t as dark or violent so that may be the reason. That’s not a criticism of FX as its my favorite network, just an observation.
Just caught up with Terriers; maybe they should wait for the slackers to catch up. It’s a great show.
What an excellent show, very sad!!
I don’t like too many tv shows, but Terriers was near the top of my short list. Please, please, please don’t take it away. Not enough people knew about it. Try it again on another night.
Terriers was clever and the flawed characters were likable. Any chance to revisit this
please bring Terriers back its the only show i need to watch the acting and story line are the best of anything on tv. what can i say i need it to continue .terriers rocks
Terriers was the best show since Monk!
I’m really saddened that FX did not market the show at a deeper level. The characters and stories were great and the acting top-notch! Another network should wisely pick this show up! Best show in years!
Terriers was a fun and exciting show, with likable less than
perfect characters.
What a shame. This show had more potential than I saw in Rescue Me at it’s start.
BOO on you FX.
One of the problems was that if you missed the show on the main night & they re-ran it ALL night but then you were many times out of luck.
Only through sites like F.P. could someone catch up. That’s FX’s fault. They did allow sites like hulu to carry it but it was more than a week later. So by the time you saw it the next one had already aired? FX Is spelled DUMB!
Please add two (2) votes to the YES, RENEW ‘TERRIERS’ series. I don’t know what part of the USA was ranked, but apparently it did not include the ‘progressive thinkers’ of our population. This series was one of the reasons that kept me from eating junk food, etc. In other words, exceptional acting, story line, realistic and honest. I am extremely weary of the manby-pamby crap found on TV. My personal deep regrets to all persons involved in this fabulous series whose TV life was cut short by greed and insufferable stupidity.
Totally bummed this show got cancelled! With out a doubt it was my favorite new show of the season! FX got it wrong in my book.
If it hadn’t been for my 14 year old son telling me about this show, I would never have seen episode one. To me, FX is to blame for the failure of this show. When so few people watch the first episode, that should tell you something. It tells me that not enough people knew about it to begin with. Oh well, the good news is that now we all will have more time to devote to other quality programming like Housewives of Delaware, Housewives of Kalamazoo, Housewives of Galveston, Housewives of Idaho, and Housewives of El Paso. Or better yet, how about CSI Birmingham, where all they need is a shard of glass to determine the killer?
OMG…. I was verrrrrryyy depressed after Lost, so I was not surprised by Susan’s post. I have to say Terriers as giving me hopes to television again. Louie was good and The Walking Dead were good… if they hold out maybe I will still make it through my Lost withdraw… But loosing Terriers is a MAJOR EFFFFIN set back. I am tired of the crap. FX should just rebroadcast it my goodness.
I am disappointed to say the least about Terriers being cancelled. It was fun to watch, a nice mix of drama, action and comedy. Hopefully, another network will realize the gem that fx is tossing away.
Terriers was a great show with a fantastic cast. FX is stupid to cancel this show. Lets push for TNT to pick it up like they did Southland.
